The Last Survivor

Hi all! I love watching 2 things on TV: sports and reality shows where someone is eliminated every week. I decided to combine them and got the Last Survivor project.

Project essence.
A new team was added to the created game world. The team has been added 2 players with the lowest overall rating (20) in the league for each position. They will alternate each other in the games of the season until each has played 3 games. After that, the least useful players will be determined and they will leave the project. Their place will be taken by new contenders, with a slightly higher overall rating.

The goal
Maximum number of games for the team.

Game world.
I have created a world that contains all the teams from the leagues that were in OOTP from 21 to 25, excluding MLB. They are divided into 6 pro/rel divisions each with around 90 teams. At the end of the season, the 16 best and 16 worst teams change their division. Last Survivor is holding its debut season in the 5th division. I will try to keep the rosters up-to-date. At least the next opponents of our club will receive a fresh roster, and the players appearing in the news will also end up in the real club.

Second chance.
It would be very cruel if the eliminated participants do not get the opportunity to return to the project.
Therefore, all losers are sent to a special team of a separate league. Each match will determine the weakest player of the starting lineup according to statistics and here the project
will be finished for him. Those players who can play in 50 games will return to Last Survivor.

Interest in such a large-scale project sparked among thousands of people from Africa to Australia, who had held a bat in their hands at least once in their lives. After all, they could show themselves to the whole world. Some players got a chance to restart their failed careers. Scouts, with red eyes from lack of sleep, studied many profiles, because it was necessary to honestly assess the abilities of the candidates for participation. There were mistakes even in the debut draft, and you will notice this when you study the list of the first participants. The draft was held in prime time on central TV and the long-awaited game profiles began to appear on the screen...

All the pitchers who started the project are very young. And they can't boast of being famous. The more interesting it will be to watch them

That same mistake. The scout sent the file to the wrong folder and a strong enough player was chosen to start. The guy was surprised when he received the invitation, but he came to the project. At the same time, his opponent from Germany is older and there is a chance that he will be able to put up a fight.

Unique premise to this one, different than other storylines for sure. Nice way to approach dealing with fictional players across a vast universe.

Let's go!

Stage 1-1. Delmarva Shorebirds

Delmarva is an A-level team from the Baltimore Orioles structure. Even at the level of their league, they perform very poorly. Nevertheless, looking at the difference in skills, I was afraid of a crushing score. And the results of the first inning only increased my fears. 0:3 - an unpleasant debut for young Mamoun Boulami. But these were the last missed points for him, and his replacement Addergoole Paramita was left with 0 in the Runs column!
And in the fifth inning, the team scored its first point in history. Amedeo Marinelli became the hero. First, he forced the pitcher to let him go to first base. Then he stole the second. Well, and in the end, RBI by his compatriot Matteo Toninello allowed him to close the circle.

The match of the second group of contenders turned out differently. The first time Kosaku Nishida went to bat - a home run! The score remained unchanged until the 5th inning. David Rodney was already sitting on the bench "dry" in his dreams and... he was tired. The hits were coming one after another. The bases were full, and the count changed with each throw. In addition, Loris Locquet let him down when he dropped the ball while creating a double play. Well, and the Grand Slam from Braylin Tavera made the result absolutely unbearable. Substitute reliever Luis Fuentez repeated the result of his competitor in the position and also did not allow the opponent to score points.

Stage 1-2. Villa Clara Naranjas(2-0)
Pitchers:
Fredy Asiel Alvarez (1-0; 0.00ERA; 1BB; 16K)
Alain Sánchez (1-0; 3.24ERA; 1BB; 9K)

The test was not going to be easy. Despite the fact that the opponent was from mid of the Cuban League, both pitchers started playing in the league when most of the project participants were not yet born. And looking at the impressive statistics of Fredy Asiel Alvarez in the first match, their legs were shaking even in the locker room. Their fears were not in vain. Villa Clara did everything it wanted with our guys, and the pitcher repeated his record for K (16) and again did not let anyone into the house. Unfortunately, the reliever of the Last Survivor team also made a misfire this time (4IP, 7 Hits, 8 Runs, 3 HR) and before the decisive round his ERA dropped to 5.14.

The second match was a little easier, although the Naranjas batters continued to show off (5 HR), and our team again did not score a single point. The only bright spot was Kosaku Nishida (3-4). Most likely, he is the only one who has already secured his continued participation in the tournament.

Stage 1-3. Bussum HCAW (2-2)
Pitchers:
Dennis Burgersdijk (1-1; 2.40 ERA)
Lars Huijer (1-1; 3.46 ERA)

I'm upset! Yes, the opponent was the winner of the Baseball European Champions Cup 2023. But at the crucial moment, when you need to show your best qualities, both teams score 1 hit (!!!) in 18 innings. The infielder can't catch the easiest pop-out. And the reliever misses 9 runs in the very last inning... No words! I didn't think there would be a lot of home runs. But I didn't expect that the survivors would have to be determined by the least number of K.

Stage 1 Results
Interesting fact. In the debut teams, the most athletes were from the USA and the Dominican Republic - 3 people each. And all of them managed to lose the competition and went to the Second Chance. Including the main "cheater" - Sebastian Norman.

Stage 2-1. Vienna Wanderers (3-3)
Pitchers:
Peter Reyes (2-1; 4.58 ERA; 1 BB; 18 K)
Michael Schneider (1-2; 13.11 ERA; 12 BB; 22 K)

The debut match became a real nightmare for a 15-year-old boy from England Alistair Lyes. Already at the beginning of the first inning, the ball he threw flew out of the stadium, and closer to the end he received a second HR. Later, the situation did not improve and the guy set an anti-record that will not be broken soon - 6 HR in 5 innings. Reliever Julio Alfaro, although he looked more confident (4 IP, 0 BB, 5K), also missed a lot and another entry was added to the anti-record book. The evil genius was first baseman Brett Gardner, who hit all the balls straight to HomeRun.
However, there was a record. The attack recruits were not bad and the team scored 8 Hits for the first time this season. Moreover, 8 different players did this. But, unfortunately, this did not bring points. The result is 0:20.

The old-timers looked much more confident. Pitcher Mamoun Boulami got a strikeout on the first player. But his good mood was ruined by the same Brett Gardner, who mocked the second LS squad, hitting 3 HR. The offense was doing better. In the first inning, Nishida got his second HR. In the next one, Toninello did the same. And in the third, Breno Carapeto finally got his AVG and immediately over the HomeRun line. The team did not earn any more points, but it is worth noting David Blanco (2-3, Double). The match ended with a spectacular strikeout against Gardner, which added gray hair to the entire team. 3-11

Stage 2-2. Perth Heat (5-3)
Pitchers:
Tyler Beardsley (debut)

The team from Australia strengthened itself well in the draft, having added veterans to their roster who were unclaimed in the major leagues. Moreover, before these matches, the roster was replenished with several promising teenagers from the Tampa system. The only downside was the sudden absence of the second starting pitcher, and Tyler Beardsley played both games.

Alistair Lyes started the rookie game as usual - with missed home runs, one each in the 1st and 2nd innings. But then he pulled himself together and did not let anyone into the house anymore. Moreover, for a long time LS led in the hit count! Unfortunately, reliever Alfaro could not support his colleagues and failed in the 8th inning. The final score was 0:11 (5:7 hits)

The old-timers played just terribly and the main culprit was starter Boulami, who again did not find his pitches and missed 14 runs in 5 innings! The batters also did not perform well, which was reflected in the final score of 0:19 (4:16 hits)
