Hi All,
I am brand new to OOTP, I just downloaded it today. I started a historical season, 1984 Tigers, and I was greeted with a message about Challenge Leagues so I went ahead and activated that. I played the Twins and the Tigers in the Metrodome, and I was expecting to see the Metrodome, but what I saw was the standard OOTP default stadium. I did a little searching on the web, and it said something about turning something on in the team settings which I could not find. Anyway, sorry this is such a noob question, but how do I turn this on? One of the things I was sold on was being able to see old stadiums, so this was disappointing. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong. |

Did you get your game through steam? If so you can download old stadium there.
If not, you can go to mod section on forum. I just use current stadiums. To do that (for Detroit in this example) go to team page, settings, on right side of page put in stadium name “comerica park”, click edit ballpark, click actions on right side, drop down menu click “auto import data from file into this park, pop up-click no.

Stadiums
Thank you, Reed!
I did download this from Steam. I got to the team settings page just fine, I do see where I can put in the stadium name, but I don't see the option to Edit Ballpark. |

if you add the new stadium files to the apporopriate data/folders then you should be able to get it to auto load. As long as city name and team name match it will use it. they even have files tagged with years so it will change if they moved into a new stadium.
this should come in the game, i don't recall needing a mod package for this ever since they got mlb licensing. it's in team settings or league sturcture or whatever -- it can check existing logos, uniforms and i assum stadium files an dmake sure they match up. maybe it's just in the edit ballpark page i don't recall. but should be able to autoload the files without doing it by hand. think there's even a checkbox when you load a leage to check this stuff, but that might be uniforms only not sure. |

I managed to find Ballpark Editor, and I see things like file locations and such. Some ballparks, like Fenway, seem to have everything in place, others, like Tiger Stadium, do not.
I just downloaded this today, thought stuff like this would "just work", and now I'm hiking through the weeds trying to figure stuff out. Getting a refund is starting to swim around in my head. I spent about 3 hours today trying to figure this out, and after today I just don't have that kind of time. I appreciate your help, pardon my rant. Not aimed at you. |

You need to go to the Steam Workshop of the game and subscribe to the stadiums mod there. Once you subscribe to the mod it will download but then you need to open OOTP 25 and go to Workshop Central at the bottom of the main menu and install the mod from there.
The mod has all of the historical ballparks since 1901 and they will automatically load when you create a game. |

Thank you @twins_34 for taking the time to reply. I will try this if the Steam Workshop suggestion doesn't work.

@Garlon,
I was able to subscribe to the historical stadiums, and install them, all good there. However, when I go to play a game it's still the default OOTP stadium. I'm playing the Tigers @ Twins, so I'm hoping to see the old Metrodome, but no. I went to the Twins team page, then Info, then ballpark, then Edit Ballpark, then Pictures & Coordinates, all of the pictures, Daytime, Night, etc., say, "NOT FOUND". So I click on the Select File button where I get a "Select the picture file..." screen. I was able to select the files that made sense for daytime picture, etc., and when I go to play the game, I do finally see a new stadium, but it's all zoomed in on the pitcher and the batter, and when a ball is hit things just go wonky. So, progress, yes, but not there yet. |

I got some pretty good tips from the beginning of this video: https://www.youtube.com/live/FvXtVJa...7JEWeHGXQI5hU0
So, it seems that after I do all of these steps, I can go launch a game, and I see a zoomed-in field where all I can see is the pitcher, catcher, umpire, and batter. It's very zoomed and the top of the screen where the options are to swing away, etc. are over the top of the pitcher, all I can see are his feet. Is there a setting somewhere that I can modify to correct this or at least start experimenting with until it looks right? OOTP Support responded to me, apparently this is not something they support, so this forum is all there on this. Thank you for the help!!

You need to change the view(s) in game. Click on View then Initial Camera View. From there you have multiple options. Wide or default give a good overall view. Do the same for Pitch Camera View and Action Camera View. For more complex advice you can add/delete cameras. Some ballparks may have many cameras you can choose from. You can also copy cameras from one ballpark to another. All of this can be done from the team home page. Click settings/edit ballpark/3D model. You can experiment with the 3D settings to learn as long as you do not save the 3D model you will not mess anything up.

Since you installed the mod after you had started your current game you will need to load each stadium manually. Maybe try to use the auto load function first to see if the stadium will come up. It is possible that the default view for that stadium was set incorrectly or that camera is obscured for some reason. Try selecting a different view.

I can now say, after numerous frustrating hours, and thanks to help from all of you here, and some YouTubers, that I finally have this figured out.
While in a game, there is a View menu mentioned by @micropterus58, and under there are numerous settings that got me all fixed up. I was only tinkering with modern 3d view, classic 3d view, all the views, and that wasn't getting me where I wanted to be. At the bottom of that menu are some options for initial camera view, pitch camera view, etc., this finished things up nicely. So, having installed this from Steam I had to subscribe to the Work Shop historical ballparks, then I had to install those from within the game, the initial screen has a Work Shop option at the bottom. Because I had already started a game, I had to load the 3d model for each stadium (I'll do these as I go), then under Pictures & Coordinates I had to click Actions, then Auto-Import data from file into this park. This last part you get to form the teams home screen, then info, then ballparks, then the Edit Ballpark button. Then in-game, mess around with the View options. I thought I'd spell it out here for anyone else that has this difficulty. By the way, when setting up a replay, do they call it a game rather than a season. A game makes me think I'm just setting up a single game, but in OOTP it seems a game is the project or replay your working on. Thanks! |

How to install Ballparks?
Hi Twins34,
I recently found your vids and found them very helpful. I was hoping you could make a video on importing downloaded stadiums for Dummies like me. I want to move the As to Las Vegas and downloaded a couple stadiums. I was able to import them, so it has all the data, everything seems to be working except for the 3d Model. Not sure how to get that working ![]() Anyhow, keep up the good work! |
