It's really sad that this player is so lowly regarded
Just because this player plays on a really bad team that his pitching ranking as so sadly represented, This pitcher leads AL in Starts, Strikes Outs, FIP, & K's per 9, 10th in walks per 9 (he's given a 60 ratings in control. He's in Top 10 in at least 5 piching categories, #1 in 2 MLB pitching rankings. His Whip is 0.92 - He's listed by a few as #2 in Cy Young Award. Just go to BASEBALL REFERENCE to see his numbers and ranking. And his player cards a 74 a 74. I think this card should be corrected. OOTP makes superstars out of players that are not even in majors yet, but rates a REAL superstar a 74 which lacks what his true rating can be. Bet your bottom dollar if he was on Yankees or Dodgers this card would be maxed out. It's just quite a shame. IMHO Then he's given a 44 stamia, what a joke.

June stats
For the context that players are rated on a month to month basis (actually when their player cards get updated...Here are his month stats that raidedhis card from a 68 to a 74. BTW....Kevin Pillar card went up 28 rating points. WTH?
Garrett Crochet for month of June Crochet, closed June with a 5-2 record, a 1.63 ERA, .181 opponents' average, 12 walks and 101 strikeouts over his last 12 starts covering 71 2/3 innings, and lowered his ERA from 6.37 to 3.02. |

Pillar went from 1.005 OPS to .864 OPS after a terrible month with an OPS of less that .630 - and then he goes up to diamond? That can't be right. There's been a number of really weird updates like this one so far - that first update for George Kirby, leading the AL in FIP, he went DOWN, lol. I've noticed way more anomalies this year in the updates that maybe in all of the last three or four years combined. |

I am convinced that they just put whatever numbers that they want on the cards. We just have to make do.

Yeah, I agree with you that they just put any numbers they want. But I stand by my comment that if Crochet was playing for the Dodgers or Yankees he'd be a 100 CARD Last edited by Bunktown Ballers; 07-03-2024 at 11:28 AM. |

Isn't it really enjoyable to run a TEAM Based squad? But certain favorable teams/players get the better rated players & team. I'm waiting for next month when my White Sox team will be decimated by card creators of OOTP as punishment of making obvious points. Someone just wants us to shut up & spend money. I'm pretty sure my run of 25 years with OOTP ends this year or sooner.

Keep in mind live update ratings are still based on preseason projections. So we are about halfway through the season, so someone like Crochet's ratings are still roughly 50% based on his initial ratings. And since he was a reliever who walked more batters last year than he struck out, it will take some time to overcome that.
Some players do move more than others. Pillar moving that much is certainly a surprise, but that is likely a factor where his ratings shifted in a way that his offense just rose enough to combine with his defense to move more. |

There are a lot of ratings I don't get
There's an Ernie Banks card that's 77, except it's from the year he won the NL MVP award and his ratings should be so much better for that year.
They dropped that Willie Mays card at 93.... so the top Mays card is less than...Luis Arreaz? |
