Tournament Strategy & Stats Settings

In both regular and perfect draft tournaments, many of them state that the "tournament is played with strategy & stats settings that resemble the year X," with X being some random year.

If it says what stadium they're being played in, it then shows the park factors for that stadium. But it never gives you any clue of any batting/pitching factors for the specific year being used, nor any idea of what the strategy is for that particular year.

For example, in one of the Daily Early Iron tourneys, the strategy & stats settings resemble the year 1988. What was the strategy/stats of 1988? Well, it was a big pitching year, so are we to assume pitchers will benefit more than normal? But what strategy in 1988 was different than say, today? Or than say, 1987, which was a big hitting year? How are we supposed to know? Is there a setting somewhere that shows exactly what the plusses/minuses are to that particular year?
