Attendance in historical is obscenely low?

I am running a historical save as the Giants in the 1930s. We have just won 4 of the last 5 World Series, with a huge market size, extreme fan loyalty and 100 fan interest.

However, our attendance does not reflect this. We only draw 13k in a stadium that can hold 51k (Polo Grounds). We have the cheapest ticket price in the league by far at 80 cents a ticket.

The Yankees are also a similar case. They have a huge market size, extreme fan loyalty and 100 fan interest as well, but ONLY AVERAGE 7k IN YANKEE STADIUM THAT CAN HOLD 71K! Yankees tickets are only $1.35, but I feel like that shouldn't really draw fans away.

I am just curious to see if this is truly a bug or by design. I've never had this bad of an attendance history in previous historical saves in past OOTPs. I have also ran into this issue across many historical saves in this version of OOTP.

New York Yankees real-life per game average attendance according to Baseball-Reference. Years in bold are years in which the Yankees won the World Series.

1930 = 15,385
1931 = 11,850
1932 = 12,498
1933 = 09,707
1934 = 11,100
1935 = 08,885
1936 = 12,687
1937 = 12,635
1938 = 12,290
1939 = 11,166

Attendance was a lot lower back then. The Depression also caused a noticeable drop in attendance which took years to recover.

I didn't know or expect OOTP to take IRL factors into effect there. I'd be interested in seeing if there is a work around to the low attendance.

In the preseason go to League Settings>Financials and there should be a baseline league average setting for attendance. I think that would be the best way to raise it away from the historical norm. It might reset each year, so you'd need to see if that worked and maybe do it each year.

Why not? Attendance is a historical fact just like the league and player stats are. A team having a season attendance of 3 million in the 1930s would be very unrealistic.

Some clubs did have a large park capacity but these were rarely reached, typically on major holiday doubleheaders. Weekday games had small crowds; night games were limited to seven per club.
