Help Starting Fictional Universe

Hi all - I remembered this game from ages ago and, finding that nothing comparable has come on the market in the ~2 decades since I last played - I re-downloaded a copy. I am sort of struggling to comprehend what the game *is* however, i.e. does time advance and fighters retire a la Football Manager for boxing, or is this sort of a set piece manually curated boxing database with no "narrative" / aging / arcs etc.

Anyhow, instead of chasing down whatever working links still exist to build a database of real life fighters, I was wondering if there was a way to quickly populate a universe with a few thousand fictional fighters of varying quality so that I would not have to go in by hand and manually set attributes etc. I see within the GUI the option to make fighters one-by-one but it looks like they start wit straight 0's and it seems unfeasible to build a universe this way. I am sure I am missing something though and any help would be greatly appreciated. Ideally I could automate the creation of a boxing world where nations are proportionally represented etc but I understand that may be asking too much for an old game.

There's a random fighter generator in the game.

You can certainly set fighters to progress, although they do so by number of fights rather than time. There are five different career stages.

Yeah. Like Pilight says. Most of us have gone through several attempts before we found what works best for us, but you can't go wrong. There's no Face-Gen for fighter portraits but there are some fictional fighters in the forum.

Which version of the game did you download? TB2013 doesn't work for everyone. I've stuck with TB2.5. It's more stable.

I've got 2.5 as I had read about the bugginess of TBCB 2013 . I discovered the RFG feature, now I just have to figure out if there is an easy way to put fighters into groups based on region, i.e. without having to individually click on each one. My idea is to sort of replicate how word football is organized with continental tournaments feeding into a world tournament, then have a separate IBF type org that features the top fighters from the tournaments. Not sure if that will be feasible. I am also still unclear how time works in the game other then the fights themselves aging fighters, but it seems then that the advance of time is relative to each individual fighter based on how active they are. And I am not sure how new young fighters come into the game short of manually creating them.

To add to immersion I am going to use Stable Diffusion to make faces for my guys.

I used GROUPS to create regional territories: North America; Europe; Australasia; Latin America; etc. I also have two national groups: Canada and USA and the British Empire. As you create fighters you are asked each time to assign them to GROUPS. In ORGANIZATIONS you create titles to compete for. My World title comes under ALL.

In OPTIONS under AGING you set how many fights it takes to advance from one career stage to another. This is randomly applied to each fighter so they don't all age at the same rate.

I've never used the RFG function so I can't help you there. I'm sure there are others who could explain this all much better. There may even still be a thread in the forum about setting up your Alternate Universe.

Good luck and have fun.
