Amateur Draft - Draft Budget
Bug or intended behavior? I can't make an over slot offer to draft picks if I have already exceeded my Draft Budget. It doesn't matter if you have plenty of Total Money Available.
For example, I have a $10M draft budget and have spent $9.9M, but I have $13.5M in available money. My owner refuses to offer over-slot money to any remaining players even though I have plenty of Total Money available. In the past the owner only cared about Money Available, not the amount you set for the budget (if you went over).

I haven't had any issues thus far. I always set my draft budget considerably lower than what I'll eventually need in order to maintain additional flexibility prior to the draft.
What is your owner's profile? Are they controlling or meddling? Or their fiscal personality super cheap? |

i discovered this yesterday too. since ootp introduced slot bonus in drafting 'total money available' has always available to spend on draft picks - this seems to have changed in ootp25. if you dont have enough preseason draft budget assigned you're screwed

I take back my previous response, I encountered this situation last night.
I made a handful of offseason deals involving a significant amount of cash, so I had quite a bit more money to play with than the budget. Come draft time I wasn't able to sign the last pick I wanted until a couple of weeks later when the figure had increased (I'm guessing due to home games and making more money than projected). I was projected to have a negative balance for the season, but had a mountain of cash yet that would allow me to sign free agents. |

The fact that you could ever go over budget like that is the actual bug. Teams are hard capped on their draft budget from the actual league, not by individual owners

I'm pretty sure this is intended, but we can probably take a closer look and make sure of that. If it's not we'll fix it up.

Thanks, Lukas. I had the same question. This was a surprising change from OOTP 24.

I would understand if you had a fiscally cheap/controlling owner and they refused, but not in the situation of a charitable hands-off owner, if the cash is there it should probably be accessible regardless of the pre-designated budget.

I'm playing an historical game, and last night I had a moment where the slot was $130, the player was demanding $140, and my stingy owner wouldn't lend me the ten bucks I needed to sign the player!
