I cant stand owners that
fill in pet peeves of other owners here.
Some of mine off the top of my head: Dont rebuidl a crappy team like detroit, instead send there farm and draft picks to get a Randy Johnson because he "makes my rotation legit". Dont understand the difference between playoff caliber and a .500 teams starters. A team is making a run, only has an ace and a mediocre guy for his #3 but lacks a #2. You go to trade him you veteran ace and he says his 12 win 4.39ERA #2 is good enough, a guy thats poor in the clutch and only pitch's 5 innings an outing.... Teams that rebuild good teams because "there getting old", not everyteam can be rebuilding at once and all your starters are 32, make your run now, you never know how long the league will last.

a perfect example was in a league called TBL, a brilliant tiger manager went and traded a bunch of picks and spes for Bernie Williams and rick reed...

I really like that all teams seem to be in rebuild mode all the time. Does anyone actually go out and try to win a world series? If they do they dont make it and quite the league.
I also like guys that hold teams for years and never do anything to improve the team. I also like the new guy in the league who made 6 trades and leaves I like the crappy teams that dish out 20 million dollar contracts for one superstar and manage to win 55 games. I like it when new guys take over established teams with years of success and tear the team apart in 3 days. |

Some of these complaints condemn managing styles, not bad ownership.

On that note, i hate it when guys tell you for months and months they are "rebuilding" then turn the team into the laughing stock of a team, then quit the league because "I just dont have enough time"
Then they leave you with a ****ty team and no chance of ever finding a quality GM for it.

Amazing....
I always thought that in online leagues, each owner is free to manage his/her team the way he/she wants to. I'm sure as heck glad I'm not in a league with any of you folks. The idea that MY way of running MY team would be picked apart by you guys here on this board really irritates me. It's a game, for Pete's sake. The idea is to have fun. At least, that's what I thought. Manage YOUR team YOUR way and let the other owners do likewise. You should be happy that people are participating. Every single day I see commishes and owners on this board, asking for people to join this or that league. Every day. "Active owners!" "Committed owners!" "We just want participation!" Blah blah blah. But I guess participating owners are not enough for you guys. You (not you, satchel) only want owners who manage THEIR teams YOUR way. With this kind of arrogance, no wonder so many leagues have trouble getting and keeping owners. Not only do you have to not have a life to play OOTP online, but you also have to look over your shoulder to make sure all of your decisions about YOUR team meet with the approval of some "expert" like some of the ones posting in this thread. Someone suggested an invitation-only league for you ultra elite guys who know it all and can't stand to be in a league with morons who are not grognards and who are still learning the ropes. I think that's a good idea. Last edited by Antonin; 05-27-2003 at 08:57 AM. |

I think you might be reading into this a bit too much. At least with my answer. I just simply said AFTER they quit. I have no problem with a GM rebuilding, my only problem is when they quit before the process is done leaving me high and dry.

I can live with new owners. I can live with guys who just arn't all that good. But when people ruin the realism I start to get annoyed. I mean doing what you want is fine,go out and sign anyone u want but dont come in and quickly dismantle a WS winner and start to "rebuild" and get annoyed a year into that when your not winning and trade for a bunch of crapy vets thus ruining a team.
