We had a house, right down the street, catch fire at night.

The husband and his wife were wearing ear plugs, to sleep better, and never heard the smoke alarms. They woke up to a house fully engulfed in fire. She didn't make it, and he jumped out a second story window face first, onto the concrete below. 82 years old, and he's been critical for two weeks.

He was a beast in the octagon. He was one of the first American fighters to use ground and pound.

Not surprising he is already awake and recovering.

He has courage to save his parents but I wonder if he shouldn't have considered he has kids to take care of that need him alive.

Edit: Looks like he survived so he got lucky.

I don't think in those situation you think anything. You just act.

Which is why what those Uvalde officers did was so heinous.

My point is that the heroic thing is not always thing that benefits the most people for the longest amount of time.

I get what you're saying. I also understand how traumatic the remainder of my life would be if I stood outside & watched my parents burn to death.

I looked at my dad in the hospital & could tell the end was near & was trying to find the courage to say "I love you" & top thank him for all he did in raising me. We never said that to each other. False machismo. A family friend came in the hospital room & I left to let them talk, thinking I would tell him how I felt when I got off my shift that night. He died before my shift ended.

I know he knows I loved him. I know he loved me. But for the last 24 years this June I have been beating myself up for not having the stupid balls to just say 3 frikkin' words. And it will still be with me the next 24. I can't even type this stupid post w/o crying.

So I get why in that moment he put himself at risk. (Not for a dog). But for his parents, yeah. You don't think. Just act.

Sorry about your dad. I recently lost my dad to a stroke. But I still believe you need to look past your own PTSD when making life or death decisions.
