Always funny when someone with a career 4.78 ERA throws a no hitter

I'm just glad they let him go 9. "Combined no-hitters" make me ill.

Plus, I'm still scarred from two years ago, when Buck Showalter pulled Max Scherzer from a perfect game…after 6 IP and 68 pitches! (Would have taken a whole 102 tosses at that rate. OMG the horror!)

Not gonna lie—had gone to bed early last night and when I saw this thread my first thought was either the article or the original post might be an April Fools’ Day joke.

If I am Scherzer, I beat Showalter's ass, right there on the mound.

Blancos no hitter was the earliest in the season in baseball history.

Earliest on the calendar, perhaps, but not in the progress of the season. Bob Feller once threw a no-hitter on Opening Day.

(Trivia: name the Hall of Famer who played centerfield for Cleveland in that game.)

Just my guess...too lazy to look it up. Was up most of the night shepherding the estate through a power outage...35mph winds and it was cold!

No, 1946. Averill had retired.

HINT: His plaque does not refer him as "Cleveland centerfielder".

Sorry to hear about the winds. We got a lovely bit of rain, but I rather dig that.
