Scouting Discrepancy on different screens
First, I know that the number of "stars" is not really important, but...
I'm looking at a draft pool and noticing a discrepancy in the "star rating" of some of the players in the draft when I go between different tabs on their profile. I'm wondering if this is purely a cosmetic glitch and irrelevant if the ratings are the same, or if it is some indicator of future volatility of the player, and he might regress or something. Scouting is set to 100% accurate. Here's an example in this current draft class: SP is 17 years old with 4 undeveloped pitches. He is STU 65 MOV 80 CON 55 When I sort on the draft pool page, it shows him as a 4 star player. When I go to Profile, then summary tab it also says he's a 4 star pitcher. BUT, when I go to the Scouting tab, the STU MOV CON ratings stay the same, but the stars go to 2 stars and the report says "likely bound for journeyman status." I am seeing differences quite often for SP. For older 22 yr old college prospects, it usually isn't more than .5 or 1.0 star difference. But there's a big difference for the 17-18 year old HS prospects. One 4.5 star lights out SP on the summary tab drops to a 1.5 star on the scouting tab. Is this a bug? Is it some indicator that the player won't develop? Should I consider this at all. (If it matters, I'm picking as an expansion team so I really want to minimize risk.) |

Make sure the option that lets you toggle between your scout and the OOTP scout is set to the same setting in all of the different screens. Sometimes when you toggle that option on one screen and then forget to toggle it back it could lead to different ratings and star levels on the actual player profile vs. what you might see on the draft screen for example.

See if the position he was scouted at is the same as the one he is currently listed as playing. E.G. Is he listed as a SP but scouted as a RP? or vice versa?

My response from your other thread...
When you view the players in the list, or when looking at the summary page, you're seeing their current 100% accurate ratings. If you were to go into the editor and change a player you would see those changes reflected immediately in those areas. When you flip to the scouting page in the player's profile you're seeing a saved snapshot from your scout (and OSA) from a certain date. If the player had changed between the time of the last scouting report and present day you could see a difference. Asking for a report from your scout will update the scouting page and it will match what you see in the other areas. Basically if the league is set to 100% scouting accuracy, the scouting tab in the player's profile is more useful for viewing progression history than anything else. Thank you for the response. I replied there as well. I think you've explained it. I am an expansion team that is "in the file" now, but I am not assigned to a team. I'm observing this season and will be assigned to an expansion team when they are created at this season's conclusion, so I don't think I can request a scouting report. BUT based on what you've said, I should be confident in the ratings I see and I don't have to worry about the player have some impending regression or soemthing. Thanks again. |

Unfortunately I don't have an explanation for that given the scouting date is current.

All I do know is that what might be shown between the summary page and the scouting page has had things like that happening for as long as I can remember (v8?).
Why I don't know, or if it has ever been answered. |

Would you even worry about the weird low rating shown on the scouting tab?

I went looking through one of my test leagues, changing accuracy to 100% and running a full league re-scout. There are a few players that will show discrepancies between the pages even with scouting reports current to the day. Some show lower overall, some show higher. Some are position players, some starters, some relievers. |

I'm sure someone can answer this, but what are the benefits of having the scouting system enabled at 100% vs just disabling the scouting system? Do you need it enabled to have international finds and such? Last edited by snepp; 08-14-2023 at 10:17 PM. |

Edit: I like the idea of having an overall and overall potential rating, I just think it should be a snapshot in time the way the component ratings are. As it stands you could change the position of any player and get immediate real-time) overall and potentials on the profile page. Last edited by PSUColonel; 08-16-2023 at 09:06 PM. |

I think a system where you have to scout players at certain positions (they must play there to get a rating) would be much more realistic.
