Strange injury

Hi Mates,

One of my relievers got injured lately. It is a DtD injury, but still saying that career is over. In details it looks to be a back spasm which has minimal inlfuence on hitting, moderate influence on running, and no influence on throwing. Does this mean that he can keep playing for many years more? Or this injury will be more severe over time, which would eventually lead to retirement?

Here is the pic.

In this instance, I would think that career over [!] means what it says. I can’t explain the DTD reference. Did you have “delayed injury diagnosis” toggled on? I no longer allow that, because the delay was uncertain, and it seemed to yield conflicting diagnoses. I had enough of that in a prior life as a personal injury attorney. Better to know right away, even if that isn’t always possible IRL.

Another way to check is to go into the player profile and scroll down to injury and current status for confirmation. (If it does not say “career over”, there may be hope.)

Hard to criticize this happening in OOTP with a young pitcher, as it unfortunately and sadly happens all the time IRL. At least this dude made it to the Show.

Out of curiosity, what was your setting for injuries?

I am not sure when he will be removed from the roster.

BTW I have DID on "ocasionally",and injury setting is normal.

Of course, as Commissioner, you can choose to reverse the injury and to continue using the player. Everybody who plays has a different concept of what constitutes “cheesing” or improper tampering with the game. Some never touch a rating or result or injury. Other manipulate almost every aspect of the game. I think the best advice is to “play it your way”. And this is an instance where few would criticize a decision to erase the player injury. And so what if somebody disapproved? You paid the money. You play the game your way. No need to get metaphysical.

Still strange however. Since the date of injury 5 days passed and this guy still played 3 games and 3.2 innings.

I do not have the commissioner mode availabe, most probably because I switched on challenge mode.

That’s definitely strange. I don’t know anything about challenge mode. It may be an artifact of that. Has he played well?

Usually when I have an uncertain injury, I’ll be cautious and place the guy on the IL for the short term. No idea if that makes sense in challenge mode.

You may have discovered at least a minor bug. I would report it on the support thread, and see if anyone else has encountered it.

You should post a bug report and provide your league files so they can take a look at it.

I will certainly not cry for this bug, if he can play 10 more years as a Major League picther.

If that career ending flag is actually set he may get forced retirement on the first day of the offseason when all the other career ending guys go.

In the injury files, back spasms is never a career ending injury.
There is for sure a bug here
