Forums dead slow for you too?
Seems we're in a slow forum time again. Half the time it won't come up at all after letting it spin for a few minutes. Then once in it I hit reply to post the issue and it took 3 to 5 minutes to get to where I could post. Who knows how long it will take for this message to post when I'm done?

Thanks for the reply.
It's now getting a bit better at 5-10 seconds to open a thread. Feels like we're in one of those "hit and miss" times where the board goes down hill until the powers that be come in and tweak whatever the cause is. Figured I'd get the ball rolling right away and find out what others are seeing. Sure it could just be my IP that is having problems, though if it is it's only with OOTP's forums. Every other site I've visited is instant as normal/expected. Thanks again. |

Subject to the local limitations on wifi and Internet in rural Crete, the forums seem to be loading just fine for me. Then again, I’m seven hours ahead of Eastern Time in the U.S., so my usage is mainly during slack periods when U.S. users (and some Western Europeans) are still asleep. YMMV.

No problems here.
Sweed, if you keep having issues, run a trace route from your machine to see where the slowdown is. You can do this in the command prompt with tracert forums.ootpdevelopments.com to see each hop. For reference, I go through 10 hops and the slowest, single point takes 13ms. |

Thanks for the trace command, I didn't know one could do that. I'll add that to my bag of tricks.

Hasn't happened lately for me but last month there were quite a few times it was super slow . Weirdly it's usually late night early morning for me. I'm in South Carolina so I'd assumed there wouldn't be much traffic at 3am or so in the Eastern time zone

It is pretty standard to run server updates/maintenance in the middle of the night like that, which would probably cause some temporary slowness.

Maybe the slowdown from 0200-0500 EDT is all of us users in Europe (me, temporarily) logging on at once?? That would be 0900 to noon for me in Crete. Like now!
