League Manipulation Question

Hoping someone has some truth on this ... if not, I will experiment with it when it comes time and report back.

I have an "Association" between a 3-tier structure league and another 3-tier structure league. Let's call the former the WBL and the latter the Rogue League.

My goal is to eliminate the Rogue League, making all of its players available for drafting in the WBL (which will gain a 4th tier), while not losing their individual season histories (don't care if the history of the Rogue League itself is maintained or not).

The key here is how to get the players to "move" from the Rogue League to the WBL (remember, two separate entities joined by an Association). One experiment would be to

* release the players from the Rogue League (at which point they will be in its FA pool)
* delete the Rogue League

But I suspect that will delete the players as well.

Anyone have a notion of solve?

Before even trying any other workaround, I'd do this:
  1. Save a copy of the game.
  2. Proceed as you've suggested above.
  3. See if this does indeed delete the players.

If it doesn't, then the problem doesn't exist; if it does, then you'll need to look for a workaround.

You don't need an association for this, you can delete the association without incident.

What you'd do here is:

1) Make the WBL the "parent" league of the Rogue League via the league settings and League & Teams submenu.

2) Go to functions and in the same sub-menu and go to "clear rosters"

3) Move the Rogue League teams into the WBL main structure via the "edit league structure" submenu in the functions section

4) Once you've moved all of the teams you want into the WBL, click the "schedule free agent" draft button and you'll be able to draft everybody into the WBL from the existing FA pool and the Rogue League exiles, if you want it to be only those players and whoever else in the FA pool, you can temporarily set the "Allow Free Agents from other leagues" check box to be off and it'll just be whoever is in your current pool

5) Draft to your heart's content.

This will preserve their stats in the Rogue League, but will allow you to delete the Rogue League itself. It'll still be present in the archives as a delete league anyway.

Nice! Awesome feedback.

THANK YOU! Nothing frigging beats expertise. Will confirm this in a few weeks when the timing is right in game.

Works great. Because I didn't need any of the "rogue teams" in the main league, I could just do (1) and then select DELETE LEAGUE from the League Functions page.

The "rogue" teams are gone, their players are in the FA pool, and they have retained the stat lines from their single year out in the wilderness. Now I just need to wait for the final rogue league to finish its playoffs ...
