released player showing up in 40-man

I just started a new MLB start as CWS and released a pitcher that was on the 40 man but in AAA. The player Jake Diekman, was still listed on my 40 man and under team is listed Jake Diekman!!!

I went into Commissioner mode and tried retiring him, did not work, then i tried to delete him, he is still there on my 40 man. Made him a coach, nope still on my 40 man. Jake Diekman will not die. Next step is setting my PC on fire before he takes over everything.

Please help...

Did you try to "wavier - DFA" him?

Not saying it's not a bug as is, but maybe that would get you past it while waiting for a potential fix?

unfortunately I straight released him, in hind sight I wish I waved him first. Now I am doomed to carry the corpse of Jake Diekman forever....

Try adding him back to your team here (Lucas Sims is the example):

He is now on the White Sox:

Change him back to MLB but this time select "None (Free Agent)" rather than picking a team:

And he is no longer on their roster:

He has risen from the dead as a free agent, but he is still on my 40 man roster. Tried signing him and was planning on designating him for assignment, but apparently he is a true zombie now, cause after I offered a contract nothing happened, the game says that he was offered a contract but when I looking at pending offers there is nothing there. I think the database is corrupted somehow...

Did you even read my post? If you have access to commish mode, you don't need to offer him a contract.

I did read your post, when I turned him into a free agent in commish mode he was still on my 40 man roster. since that did nothing i tried to sign him to see if i could then DFA him, that failed horribly too.

Add him back to your team as if you wanted to keep him (you might need to temporarily option someone down to make room on active roster).

Once he shows up on your active roster and on your 40man, edit him to MLB / free agents as shown in the screenshot I posted above.

When you go back to your team, he will be off your active and 40man rosters (then recalled whoever you may have optioned before advancing).

Give that a try.

That did it! I was able to add him to the white sox and then wave/DFA and he is off of my 40 man. Thanks!!

I will try the fix above. Just wanted to let it be known that this isn't an isolated problem.
