Well, where's the playoff sim thread?

Now that we're underway, where are all the predictions?

Yeah, there's a thread that started back in December or something but how about now, with the current rosters and teams that are actually in (looking at you, Nashville).

Not exactly what you're talking about but watching all of the playoff games and seeing this thread did get me thinking.

I really think that playoff hockey is so different to regular season hockey (as a fairly new fan of around 2 years this was one of the things that really stood out to me when I first experienced watching it) and I wish it felt this way in FHM.

I dont mean via the 2D engine as that would be incredibly difficult to produce but more so with the build up, the news items - who's in the playoff race? Who's eliminated from contention? who's having massive games? what are the stories of the post season? (like the Panthers and their resurgence in that series against the Bruins this year).

When I first started playing the game and didn't understand the season cycle I didnt even REALISE the playoffs had started because there is literally no difference between the regular season and the PO in game, no news no message to let you know, nothing. I feel like this needs some colour to make it more special because really, that's what we're all playing the regular season games for isnt it? You want it to feel like more of a spectacle. Hell, the Stanley Cup Winner screen was only added late on after people mentioned that there was no acknowledgment of a championship win.

Some basic flavour and presentation options for these sorts of things would go a long way and making PO hockey feel special and would really help with immersion, breaking the cycle of the same news items you're peppered with throughout the season (I'm looking at you injury return personal messages x 10).

Not sure how much the devs are checking in currently with the development beginning on FHM10 etc but yeah, just thought I'd get that off my chest after watching the Panthers/Bruins game and now to watch the Avs vs Kraken!

agree with tomkmb. other than seeing less penalties taken by the teams, there seems to be very little difference between a regular season game vs playoff game in FHM9

In the playoffs you can pretty much guarantee that the officials will 'even up' any penalty calls, then put their whistles away after the 2nd period.
