Not use a closer for two innings in the playoffs

Is there any way to get AI managers to stop always using closers for two inning saves in the playoffs without taking over substitutions myself? I prefer to operate as GM only and watch big games with the AI manager running the in-game options, but the constant use of the closer for every save situation from the start of the 8th inning on is infuriating. This has been a thing for the last few years at least and I can't find anywhere in the game strategies where I can get it to not do this.

I build a deep bullpen for the playoffs only to watch the closer get trotted out there for 30-40 pitches in consecutive games and often blow the lead due to fatigue while several elite setup men gather dust in the bullpen. Is the only answer to play out all the games and manually take control of substitutions late to save my manager from his own stupidity?
