Brand New - what packs are best

I just purchased OOTP today and have never played before. Was wondering what is the best packs to buy with my first earned PPs regular, silver or gold or should I not be buying packs but buying players off the market? Excited to play this game and this mode as it looks like lots of fun. Any input from more experienced players would be greatly appreciated.

Regular packs, but better to save the points to buy players. The drop rates for decent cards in packs is pretty bad, you're generally better off just paying ~25k for a platinum card than hoping you'll get one from opening 25 packs. Same thing with Perfect cards. They may seem expensive (~40 - 150k for most in the card shop), but pop open 150 card packs and the only perfect you're likely to get is a Live card that will be both underpowered compared to historical perfects, and prone to losing that 100 rating if they underperform in real life before the next ratings update.

Eventually, the live irons will start trading freely at 6 and the live bronzes in the high 20's. Then you can start buying those up to work om the live missions. You'll have to buy some live silvers and golds and a few diamonds, but you will get a lot of bang for your buck. Also note that some of the live cards will have their card tiers changed on the first Monday of every month.

Also remember to log in daily after 8PM EDT to get your free packs.
