Feel like I'm missing something

in the settings, possibly? In franchise play, the first season is over, and it is Nov 25th (Free agent filing day). I am trying to offload a $6M contract, and picking up a league minimum in return.

It's telling me that my money available will decrease by $740k if I do this deal. I don't remember this being an issue in previous iterations of the game, so I thought it might be some setting that needs to be tweaked. But I haven't found anything that restricts trading during certain times of year. I don't have a lot of wiggle room with my franchise currently, due to inflated contracts.

Can you post a screenshot of the trade so we can better help? Doesn't sound like a settings issue, so hoping maybe there is a bit of info missing or off that will help clear it up.

Also, see if another team is retaining part of the salary as maybe that eighth of it is the part you are carrying.
