"Always Start Highest Rested"
My understanding based on the manual is that when selecting this setting for your rotation, the lower starters should be skipped in the rotation if the #1 or #2 (or anyone higher in the rotation) is fully rested/available.
I've tried this a couple different years/about half of this season now with a schedule that has 1 off day every week in my 5 man rotation. There should be plenty of occurrences where the AI manager has the choice to skip to the better starter. I am hardly ever seeing this happening. In a 108 schedule, I'm only seeing the #1 get 1 extra start, and in some cases none. Does anyone else have experience with this? My goal would really be to have like a 4 and a half man starting rotation. I'd love to see the top 4 get @ 24-25 starts each, and the #5 8-16. |

More info: 40 team league. This year, through 45 games, only 7 teams have skipped a starter - each of them only 1 time, and 2 of those were forced to due to injuries. The other 33 teams are lockstep with the #1 set to start game #46, and every slot in the rotation having started 9 games.
Again, even though each team has 1 off game per week, |

If it is set globally, my guess is that you are using modern day settings that may not give the pitchers enough stamina for the teams to actually employ the strategy. That is just a guess though. I really don't test modern day settings but I wanted to at least share what I knew. |

I found a season where my team used only five starting pitchers. It works. Note, however, this is on 21.

question: what is default? Is default simply what each individual team setting is?

I think 'default' must be closer to 'strict, occasionally highest rested' or just 'strict rotation' |

"Default" as a description of a setting is needlessly vague.

This. I do sometimes manually skip my fifth starter depending on stamina, bullpen usage and off days.

Is it set to always or occasionally?
Also... I assume you have an AI manager?
