Alaska towns
So for a state that's has absolutely NO MLB or professional baseball to speak of, why does Alaska have so many towns in the weather list? lol
Maybe because each location is so far away and completely different weather? I just found it amusing.. Oh..there are 2 summer league teams there. I stand corrected. |

I assume the data is being pulled from an open source database like (NOAA, etc.) and that's the list of cities/states included. I doubt much development time was spent getting the historical weather data beyond setting an interface to access the data from a third party.
EDIT: Doing a quick search, I found an example data set: https://registry.opendata.aws/noaa-cfs/ Last edited by Cod; 10-10-2022 at 02:32 PM. |

Ah, maybe that's why there is no weather data for Brooklyn. (The Dodgers pre-1958 have inaccurate weather at home games for those OOTP players who don't realize and/or don't fix it in their games, so perhaps "Brooklyn" is not offered by this third party).

NOAA confirms my suspicions. If you put Brooklyn into weather.gov and select "Brooklyn, NY, USA (Kings County)", the data shown is for the NYC station (https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClic...5&lon=-73.9904). Last edited by Cod; 10-10-2022 at 04:04 PM. |

An overhaul of the weather data would be a truly great addition. Here in Northern Michigan, the climate varies so wildly from one side of the state to the other it's amazing.
My small burg in the center of the Northland is USDA hardiness Zone 4—lowest temps of -30 and a rotten 88 day growing season. Not even 100 miles away at my cabin in Benzonia, it's Zone 6b—low temps of -5 to 0 and a 133 day growing season. It's also far rainier at the Michigan coastlines because of the Great Lakes. I'm certain there are other states with similar issues.
