Scouting Issues
I brought this to the attention to the developers, but this is a great example of why I am against having the real-time overall & potential ratings displayed on the profile page. I know people here are going to say "just turn them off", but to me, that's not a viable solution because it takes away from something that SHOULD be part of the game, but really just isn't working well or properly. I am against having the real-time overall & potentials on the profile page. I am NOT against having time sensitive reports on the scouting page displayed, These are a "snapshot in time"...and that is essentially what a scouting report is, a snapshot in time.
The profile page is a real-time dynamic ratings system which completely undermines what the scouting page tries to do...which is create a realistic scouting environment. In the example below, it's very obvious to me this player is better than the last time he was scouted, yet I didn't have to re-scout him to discover this. I also notice that for some reason the accuracies on each page differ....not sure why this is either?? I have brought this to the attention of the developers soooo many times, yet I never hear anything from them about what is going on here. It still doesn't make sense to me. I know there was a thread from not too long ago where I was discussing this, but I just wanted to chime in with a real world example. Tell me, what motivation to I have to re-scout this player? It's obvious he is a 45 and not a 40...so why have this displayed on the player profile page? I get it that the AI may realize this, but keep it under the hood please!! You will notice the game date is April 5th...one month after the scouted date of March 5th. Last edited by PSUColonel; 10-10-2022 at 02:53 PM. |

I am fairly certain I've seen overalls change when I rescout players, so it's not something as simple as "overall is always displayed in real time and you don't need to scout".
I have a theory as to what's going on, but I'm not confident in it. Your last scouting was before the season, and your current date is in the season. I think the scaling of the overall scores, i.e. the calculation of how much underlying stat you need to get a 50 overall, is based on the overall stats of the players in the league and recalculated periodically. So there may have been a recalculation of the standard of MLB between the time you scouted him and the time you noticed his overall had gone up. The start of the season would be a natural time to do this. So your scout's opinion of the player hasn't changed, since he hasn't been rescouted, but his overall opinion of the league has worsened, and this makes the player look relatively better in comparison, resulting in a higher overall. |

I would say it may be worth noting that I am NOT using relative ratings, and am basing the overall ratings on all players (not positions). It’s the first day of the minor league schedule, but the MLB schedule doesn’t start until the 8th

Here is an issue where the player's defensive rating was downgraded according to the development report. In this case, the profile page has it correct, while the scouting page does NOT. I thought they had these issues ironed out for a few versions now, but the problems seem to be back.
