MLB with NCAA D1, NJCAA D1 & High School Feeders

I've been working on this template pretty much since 22 came out. The eventual goal is to have a full North American template with full college & JUCO leagues, as many high school teams as possible and then summer ball (summer college & HS showcases like Perfect Game, American Legion, etc).


I found the best way (for me) to build this template is to start a standard game and advance to 1/1/2022.


This lets me get into the amateur baseball offseason without having to miss any games. If there's a better way, please, I'm all ears.


The current template has:
MLB + all current minor leagues
Arizona Fall League
Atlantic League
American Association
Frontier
Pacific
Empire
United Shore
Pecos

Liga Mexicana de Beisbol (MX)
Serie Nacional (CUB)

World Baseball Classic

MLB Feeder Leagues:
NCAA Division 1
NJCAA Division 1
"NFHS" (National Federation of High Schools)


All NCAA, NJCAA & NFHS teams have accurate nicknames and locations.

The NFHS has divisions for all states plus Washington DC & Prep Schools divisions. Each division has between 4 and 20 teams based on state size (and the number of NJCAA teams to feed into).


High school teams were picked from MaxPreps.com based on 2018/19 standings (where all teams played a full non-pandemic season).



Where the high school name isn't the team's hometown name, the hometown is in parenthesis. Going through the city names I did have to find a larger town where OOTP doesn't have the actual city listed.


I also went through every award for every league to reflect a real world award (which has always been a minor pet peeve of mine).


The last minor change is that I edited all the Arizona, Gulf Coast & Dominican league teams to AZL/GCL/DSL Teamnames and their abbreviates to PHI-G1, PHI-G2. Just feels a little cleaner to me.



When you start this league things you will have to do:
Generate schedules for college, juco & high school leagues.
Fill rosters for college, juco & hs leagues.

When filling rosters, select "team state/region" instead of "league state/region", it's the "YES" answer to the pop-up prompt. This will lead to WAY more accurate hometowns for high school & juco players.

Also, go to your MLB settings and in Rules go to Draft Feeding Mode and set it to "Feeder League Players Only", and then go and make any appropriate changes to your Players tab as far as international & independent league free agent & discovery options.

Things I'm open to getting help with:
More accurate feeder league scheduling
Logo/uniform sets with this game's naming convention.

I would love to hear some feedback from playtesters. Let me know how this works for everyone.

Beware, this is a processor beater, there are at least 2000 teams in game, and all but the Cuban league will be active at the same time for a significant portion of the season.

I simmed out through the 2030 season, and I'm seeing some good results. I'm seeing a lot of players moving from high school or juco to college.

I did lose the regionality of juco and high school teams. Players are being generated from all over the place for those teams.

Any interest in working together on a real college player file? For now I'm doing a full ncaa D1 setup with a small D2, Juco and HS that would run well on middle level and possibly lower end systems. But with all real players.

I'm thinking that I'll let them do another roster update or two and then start to build out the file. I'll set it up as an online league file so we can both work on it as we go. Then go through it conference at a time. The first go through will just be assigning draft pool guys to their teams and adding the missing players.

I've never messed with roster files. Is there a how-to in the manual?

1. Where do I place this file once downloaded?

2. Does this start 01/01/2022 or that's what you recommend? What happens if you don't start on 01/01/2022?

When generating rosters, does it generate players of all years, freshman through senior? In '21, it generated players 19-23 but they were all freshman.

There's a folder tree in your OOTP folder.
Out of the Park Baseball 22 > data > world_templates
Save it to there, and you'll be able to select it in your game creation through the "Advanced Options" menu.

It does start 1/1/22, and I'm not 100% sure what happens if you don't. In past versions it would cause some minor chaos in scheduling (at least for me), some leagues wouldn't start, some leagues would play a full slate but generate no stats. Not sure how 22 handles it though.

I notice that it says Fictional Baseball League as well as the MLB League. What's the point of that can you delete the Fictional league or does it need to stay there?

Totally random but if you take over as a manager of a High School team does that impact the feeders in any way? Was thinking of trying to be a top High School Coach since it's easier to get through a full season of High School ball.

So, I think you created a fictional league when you built the template. That's not there in the original template file.



From the New Custom Game screen, click the "Advanced Mode" button in the bottom left, that should get you in without adding any unwanted leagues.

BaseballGOAT I would like to help create missing players on the roster as well. Just let me know if you need some extra help. I started compiling a list of some players who weren't included and also players previously on the last version that were eliminated this time that are still currently playing.

The list would take a long time ... what I'm thinking about doing is to create the game as an online league and make anyone who wants to help wit this commissioners. Then they'd have access to the editor and make it a group project to get the players into the game and then from there maybe narrow down the amount of people working on ratings so that its uniform
