Help with Importing Games
Hello everyone!
Currently having trouble with importing a saved game from one computer to another. Some context: - I had gotten water spilled on my computer recently. Computer is usually dead but sometimes it works. - I have a save on OOTP 22 with six years of history in which I had just won the World Series. So it's very important to me!!! - I created a backup of the original save and sent it to OneDrive. - Both my new and old computers are Macs, so I'm not expecting too much of a problem here. Here's the issue: for some reason I can't open up my saved game (World.dat) file into OOTP 22 on my new computer. I've tried looking at forums, watching youtube videos, even looking at Apple's functions, all to no avail. I just want to be able to transport my game from one screen to another. Does anyone have any suggestions? I can answer questions if needed. Thank you! |

I'm not a mac user so have no clue on file structures etc. and how they play with OOTP. Having said that I'm a bit confused on exactly what you are trying to do? Are you...
1. Trying to move your v22 game to a new computer also running v22 and then continuing your v22 game there? 2. Trying to move your v22 save game to your new computer and then import that v22 game into v23? If it is #1 and you are simply moving the game from one v22 game to another you don't use the "import" function. You would simply put your old save into your new computer's OOTP save location and manually open the game using the "Load Game" option on the opening splash screen. If I was doing this I would just zip the entire saved game folder and move it over and not use the in-game backup\restore. I know this works as my game is on-going from v4 all the way to v23 and I've had to move it to new computers several times over the years. If it is #2 and you are trying to import from v22 to v23 using the "Import v22 game" option and it's not reading the world.dat file I can't be of much help other than to suggest opening a support ticket and posting in the technical support forum. |

Re: Importing Issue
Thanks for the help!
I'm trying option 1, which is simply transferring OOTP 22 saved game from one computer to another. For some reason, when I put my league file in the saved games folder, it doesn't appear in the "load game" screen. That's where I've gotten stuck. I've tried reinstalling the game, but to no avail. Maybe the save got corrupted. EDIT: IT WORKS!!! Thank you for the help! Last edited by SCO'sFan; 12-06-2022 at 01:05 PM. |

As an aside, as a Mac user, if you decide to upgrade to OOTP 23, be aware that the file structure (or at least the path) is different from 22 to 23. This redesign should not directly affect loading a 22 game onto 23. But it bedeviled me trying to edit stadium and mod files, until I figured it out. It may be Apple and not OOTP that is responsible for how the files are stored - not sure about that.
