Help With GIMP
I recently had to re-install my entire system (long story) and I re-downloaded GIMP in order to make graphics for OOTP. I am having some new trouble though, as when I "add an alpha channel" there is a residual border still remaining (not sure why, as this didn't happen before my new install) and I don't know how to remove it. I am not the best logo maker in the world, but I make due with my limited skills.
If someone could help point me in the right direction as to how to do this it would be helpful. It is difficult (impossible) to highlight logos with this annoying little problem. Thanks to anyone in the know. Here are some images showing you what I am talking about: |

I took a logo and put it into RGB mode, and then added an alpha channel. I then cut the background color to make the logo transparent. After changing the canvas size, I now have an unwanted border around the image. How can I get rid of this border, so I can continue editing the way I'd like?

I finally figured it out. When changing the canvas size, you need to set it to "all layers" in order to eliminate the layer border.

Glad you figured this out. I was reading through the posts and coming to a similar conclusion.
GIMP is great for free software but it is full of little challenges like that.

The yellow and black "border" in the second image of your original post is the layer border. By resizing all layers when expanding the canvas size, you simply expand the layer to the canvas. If you forget to click that check box, there's also an option in the Layer menu to increase an individual later to the image size. Depending on how complex your image layers are, it's often nice to have a layer that is sized just to the content in it.
