International League Reputations and PCMS...

In balancing various leagues for my next game I wrote out all the various league reps and player creation modifiers (PCMs) so I could fit my leagues in together. I think these are a fair bit different from previous versions, at least 21 and before. Among other things, most of the better leagues have been significantly juiced up to near MLB factors. Over time that should help make international play a little more viable, but OTOH (as I noted in this thread the other day) you might find these tend to produce players much closer to MLB caliber, and you may not want that.

I'm not necessarily complaining about any of the following, just reporting for your use in planning the games you want to play. These are the OOTP23 values as of build 54.

PCMs

Major League Baseball= all 11 values are 1.0, for an average of 1.0 (of course).

TOP TIER:Average .95

***: Most stats are 1.0, with gap .8, power .95, eye .98, avoid K and stuff .9, movement .95. Same PCMs: Mexican League, Italian Serie A AND Serie B, Cuban league.

SECOND TIER: Average .919

KBO: contact .97, gap .78, power .91, eye .94, avoid k and stuff .86, movement .91, control .96, stamina .97, speed .98, fielding .98. Same PCMs: Taiwanese league, Australian league, Dutch league.

THIRD TIER: average .789

German league: contact .85, gap .7, power .75, eye .78, avoid k/stuff .7, movement .75, control .8, stamina .85, speed .9, fielding .9. Same PCMs: none.

FOURTH TIER: average .692

French league: contact .76, gap, .64, power .63, eye .68, avoid k/stuff .58, movement .63, control .68, stamina .76, speed .84, fielding .84. Same PCMs: Spanish league, Czech league and Czech serie B, Austrian league, Belgian league.

Minor league sabermetric PCMs for comparison purposes:
Triple A: .85, .8 for homers.
Double A: .8, .75 for homers
Single A: .77/.7 for homers
Short Season A: .75/.7 homers
Rookie: .6/.5 for homers and walks

So, taking all this together, players generated for AAA are a little better than those generated for the German league, and inferior to those of the First and Second Tier international leagues. You may think this is great, or it may goof up your carefully-planned sim. Go forth and generate international players!

International League Reputations*

Interestingly, league reputations* don't correlate directly to league PCMs, which again may or may not be what you want. For example, players in the Italian league are generated with the same top-tier PCMs as ***. But the league is ranked at reputation 7, so players from the Mexican league or ***, which should be on the average of the same caliber, will go to *** or LMB long before they agree to play in Italia.

*Once in a while posters seem to misunderstand reputation, as I did until relatively recently. The reputation numbers matter most WITHIN a particular league level/type. Major leagues, for example, have a higher reputation than international leagues, which have higher reputation than independent leagues. This is implicit in the game, and is the reason leagues appear where they do in the pulldown menu within the game (major leagues first, then international leagues, then independent leagues.

It's my belief the only leagues they are truly and thoroughly researched in order to get it :right", are MLB, ***, KBO.

After that, I feel it's sort of "slapped" together.

Yeah I agree. Even Mexico is messed up and they have a MLB posting agreement like Korea.
