How far back does your love for baseball go? When I was 12 years old I asked for the baseball almanac each year for my birthday and i would just study those players and their stats. this was 1980-1982 and ootp has fulfilled the same thing as an almanac....I as crazy as it sounds, i feel like I really am the GM of the Royals...George Brett was my hero. I remember my first visit to Royals stadium,my seat was on the 3rd base side and Richie Hebner was warming up and he gave me a signed ball and it just hurts me how days they charge for an signed ball.....man i remember the air inside of royals stadium, to be able to see the royals scoreboard in person, every night i listened to denny white and fred mathews either on the radio or the tv...it makes me sad that games are not on the night like it used to...society has taken the-joy from kids thee guys....

but you Marcus has given me my true love back in my heart and i cannot thank you enough...

any one have a love for the 80s baseball era? any royals fans from the 80s? would love to chat with you if there is any 80s baseball fans? 7 years old in 1970 watching the Mets with my dad at Shea and on tv at home with Bob Murphy, Ralph Kiner and Lindsay Nelson calling the games back then. :-)

I was a huge fan in the 80's (Yankees for me, but all teams bring back some great memories)....grew up playing Strat-O-Matic with the old cards and dice....then moved on to MicroLeague Baseball once the Apple IIe came into our house. Back in 1999/2000, I wanted to relive those days and started looking for a game to play that would be like those old games. I stumbled onto a new (at the time) game called OOTP. 23 versions later, I am still playing and loving it!

Been playing, and been lucky enough to still do.

Been playing this game for nearly 6 years now, but even if I'm not a man with memories from the 80s, I can't thank this game enough for being able to apply metrics and statistics, I would never have thought to grow or focus on, and implement them into my own game as I progress.

First of all, the greatest George Brett quote ever, when he came down with hemorrhoids in the 1980 WS: "My problems are behind me." P.S. The Phils took that WS from the Royals (couldn't resist).

My memories go back to Phils' games in the early 1960's at Connie Mack Stadium (Shibe Park), wondering how a gorgeous green field could exist in the middle of North Philly urban sprawl. Meeting Johnny Callison between games of a DH (not day/night separate admission; not 7-inning games). When I took my youngest son to the first game at Citizens Bank Park, walking in and seeing that green grass (not turf) was exactly the same experience. "Dad, are those tears in your eyes?" "Ah, must be the wind!"
