Players Getting Picked Off

Always has seemed a bit high to me. Getting a player picked off every 2-3 games.

Had 2 players picked off 1B by the catcher on a snap throw thru the first five games. I’m keeping an eye on it.

Initial feel is that these are high as well when playing out games. No data to support yet. Might be due to the changes made to stealing behind the scenes that Matt alluded to in another post.

This is sort sort of thing where we do definitely need some data from larger sample-sizes to know if there's an issue or not.

Yep, this seems out of whack. In first inning back to back pickoffs at first by the pitcher.

Prior games had many pickoffs also.

No, I don't have a large sample size since I play all my games in 3D.

Never seen that many in many years of playing this game.


I'll wait to play more games until there's a fix for this, too annoying to watch right now, ruining the game for me.

I have not seen more than one or two pickoffs at all this year that I can recall, while playing out dozens or hundreds of games so far.

So it's definitely not a universal problem. I suppose it's possible that somehow something is getting messed up in certain game types.

Can someone seeing this upload or post a link to their league so we can test on that?

I'm with you. Vladdy hit 4 HRs in the first two games of the season for me, and so I'm going to stop playing until they fix it, since it's ridiculous that Vladdy is going to hit 324 HRs this year.

On a more serious note, what would ACTUALLY be a problem is if you and anyone else NEVER saw 2 players picked off in an inning or 4-5 players picked off in a game. THAT would be a sign that there's a bug or problem in the sim engine.

Imagine for a second you flip a coin 10k times. If in that 10k stretch you there was never a streak of say 8 heads or 8 tails in a row, that would be proof your coin flip isn't actually being flipped to produce a 50/50 outcome each time. It might sound like 8 heads in a row is insanely unlikely, and it is, but what is actually much much less likely (to the point of being impossible) is that 8 heads in a row doesn't happen at some point to someone.

Good new, Matt announced on the main OOTP23 forum that the fix for this will be in the next patch released.
