Stuck puck

Haven't seen this before, apologies if it's been posted about.

About three minutes left in the game, puck is at the goal but not in the goal -- on top of it, maybe? It plays out like one of those table hockey situations when the puck is in the corner and no one can reach it. A few players from both teams gather around the net. Nothing happens. The clock runs, very slowly. Hilariously, the attacking team repeatedly changes players on the fly, but only the ones who aren't part of the vigil around the goal. And eventually, the clock hits 0:00 and the game is over.

You should post a video, would be hilarious to see.

I just hope it doesn't happen again. We had a two-goal lead, so I had mixed emotions about it happening this time.

Sounds like the puck's location was misrecorded, putting it into an unreachable position for the players to reach. We run new versions through a test that checks several thousand games for that situation, but it's possible there's still some rare cases lurking that'll allow it to happen (if it was happening with any frequency, though, there'd be noticeable changes in the per-game stats, which hasn't happened recently.) We'll continue watching out for them. .
