PEBA - One of OOTP's most immersive leagues - wants to hear from you!

ONE OF OOTP'S MORE IMMERSIVE LEAGUES WANTS TO HEAR FROM YOU!

PEBA is a dynasty report and online league, all rolled into one!
Check out our website for latest league-wide news!

PEBA is a long-running OOTP league which is now in it's 15th year, and it's 28th season!
We are looking for GM's that enjoy the immersion of this great game !

Are you that GM? Then PEBA is for you!

Current PEBA champions, the Florida Farstriders

The off-season is here, and time to plan ahead. It's a great time to join!

OOTP Version: 22
Format: Fictional
First Season: 2007
Current Season: 2035
Days Per Sim: 7
Sims Per Week: 2 during regular season / 2 or 3 during off-season

Our goal is to create an immersive and highly entertaining fictional baseball environment. We welcome any GM who enjoys contributing to that goal regardless of experience level. If you're an enthusiastic OOTP newbie or a seasoned vet looking for a new group of friendly people to compete against, the PEBA may be the perfect landing spot for you!

-----

League Origin Story

The year was 2007, and America was starved for its National Pastime. The PED Scandal and greed on all fronts broke the nation's trust in Major League Baseball, and an Institution of well over 100 years folded up shop and closed their doors. In came John Rodriguez, Sr and a group of wise businessmen who brought baseball back to the forefront – eschewing the big city lights and bringing the game back to the people.

It's hard to believe that was over 25 years ago.

Since it opened its doors, PEBA has had its share of controversy and tragedy; dynasty and Cinderella. It’s the home to ‘Fireworks’, ‘The King’, ‘Big Shot’ and ‘The Moon Dog’. It is a shared dynasty of 32 like-minded souls who have crafted a universe – a PEBAverse, like none other – and now you can become part of that legend.

What We're Like

League Structure

- 32 teams ... divided between the Imperial League and Sovereign League (16 teams each) ... with no interleague play.
- Each major league team has 5 minor league affiliates (Triple-A, Double-A, Full Season-A, Short Season-A, Rookie)
- 4 feeder leagues: 2 college (International and US), and 2 high school (again, International and US)
- 4 independent AI leagues.

Playoff Structure

- 10 teams make the playoffs (the 3 division winners + 2 wild cards in each league)
- Wild Card Series is best of 5
- Divisional, League, and Rodriguez Cup each best of 7.

The PEBA is a unique participation-based league – we pride ourselves with immersion that not only covers the game, but takes us out of the dugout and, at times, into the sublime. 2 or 3 sims a week means we move fast enough to enjoy ourselves, but give you enough breathing space to explore the depths of your team. Nowhere else do you find a GM running his club from a mental hospital, a team broadcaster heading to a foreign land to rekindle his game – only to be hunted for drug smuggling, a team hiring a GM and world-travelling manager, both trying to revive 'dead ball' baseball in modern times, and a pair of buddies heading out on the road to visit every ball park – and ending up becoming a real life published book!

What are "Contribution Points"?

We use a Contribution Points reward system. These are points accumulated annually based on a GM's activity, such as, for example, writing about one's team (or the league in general), or being involved in the forum discussions.

These Contribution Points can then be used to make teams your own – be it through ballpark adjustments, good old fashioned cash, sending players to winter ball to ‘hone their skills’, or simply giving your favorite player a nickname – Just ask Michel ‘Train A-rollin’ Provost about that!

Our goal is to produce an environment that reflects realism. We play with Coaching and Scouting ON. Make personnel decisions that matter and prepare for the "fog of war" when judging prospects! It will be your skill and keen eye for talent that will separate you from the pack. Every GM has to rely on his scout’s opinion and his own gut feeling – everyone has their own opinion about a player – no cookie-cutter ratings here! Do you like to trade? Our bustling trade environment shows that if you can't swing a trade here, you can't swing a trade anywhere!

As part of our participation concept, we conduct our winter meetings and amateur draft live in our unique chat room. Shoot the breeze with your fellow GMs or lay the groundwork for that blockbuster deal. We have been fortunate to attract a quality group of friendly owners – a stable core group that has been together long enough to create an extremely rewarding environment, and now you can find out why for yourself!

We're always interested in getting to know more like-minded individuals with an interest in joining in our fun and would love to hear from you.

Available Teams

Madison Malts
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Current Team Record : 35-35
Home Stadium : The Malthouse (capacity: 45,000)
(click above for team report)

The Madison Malts have been long overdue for success.

The team started life as the Canton Longshoremen, one of the original 24 PEBA franchises when the league
was created in 2007. The Longshoremen was formed by William Marsten IV, a little-known, reclusive
local businessman who has been firmly in the background of the team's operation since it's inception.

Throughout the 2010s and early-2020s, the team was a middle-of-the-pack club, usually finishing with
respectable, but losing records. One exception was the 2015 season, when the team had their first ever
winning season (87 wins), thanks to players such as veteran pitcher Mike Buck, and exciting young rookie
1B José 'Vapor Lock' Martínez. Despite the improvement, the team missed the post-season, and the team's
success leveled off and it would be their only winning season for over a decade.

In 2024, they became the only club in PEBA history to switch leagues; moving from the Sovereign
to the Imperial League. However, success eluded them there too, and they finished at the bottom of their division.
They returned to the Sovereign League after the 2-year experiment, and as the decade drew to a close, change
was on the way throughout the organization. There was even rumors of relocation.

Through all of this ... what about Madison, Wisconsin?

Madison had tried to lure a PEBA franchise before. In 2023, when it became increasingly clear that the
Tempe Knights wouldn't be able to continue playing in their current facility, an ownership group based out of
the area tried to move them to America's Dairyland. The group even received the funding needed for their very own
big-league ballpark, but the Knights deal eventually fell through, the park was never built,
and the ownership group faded away.

However, by 2029 and 2030, Canton's owner gave Madison a second look, and following discussions with local officials,
a deal was signed to build a new park called "The Malthouse", and relocation was confirmed! For the 2031 season,
the new team was re-branded the Madison Malts, and big-league baseball finally arrived in Wisconsin!
The fresh start (and influx of cash from the enthusiastic new fans) was just what the team needed,
and it turned the franchise around.

Two seasons ago, the Malts achieved their first winning season in their new home, and now the team is looking for a GM
that wants to take on the challenge of bringing this exciting new team to the post-season! ... something they have
never done in their 28 seasons in PEBA!

Does this sound like a challenge you'd like to take on? Do you enjoy an immersive league
with lots of interesting history? Then, send us an application! We'd love to hear from you.

That's very true! It also applies to the Coqui. For those browsing, the available San Juan team will also get to compete against ukhotstove's Calzones in the upcoming 2035 season. The Calzones dynasty report is a great read, breaking down series-by-series how the '34 Calzones season unfolded.

It’s difficult to succinctly spell out what a great league the PEBA is. While it may seem like a significant contribution of time is necessary, in truth you’ll be drawn in quickly and the PEBAverse will always leave you wanting/needing more.

The league is great for newcomers and veterans alike, and we have an extraordinary group with a significant number of long-term GM’s who interact in a very friendly environment. I’ve been in the league through two tenures with a pair of franchises and have never been disappointed with my experience. It’s well run, a highly engaged community, and a great group of gentlemen who are always welcoming. Ownership opportunities don’t come along often, and you’d be remiss not to take advantage with a couple of exciting opportunities like these.

I can't speak highly enough of PEBA.

Leadership is dedicated and the GMs are truly top notch.

Openings are pretty rare, so move quickly. You won't regret it.

It was 14-years ago that my fledgling experience with OOTP grew to a point where I wanted to explore a deeper experience, and try an online league. That curiosity brought me to the PEBA - and I have never looked back! The beauty of the PEBA is that in that 14-year period, nearly half the league has remained in place, or followed shortly after me, and during that time, relationships have grown and new members have been welcomed (some have stayed, some moved on) and brought into the community that is The PEBAverse - a place where we share not just the fates of the Aurora Borealis, the West Virginia Alleghenies or The Evil Evas of Shin Seiki - we share interests, lives, celebrations and sorrows. It's like the cool side of the pillow - except it's way cooler!!

We have two teams available as we begin our Championship Series - The PEC, after our brief Christmas break - San Juan and San Antonio. The Coqui, not far from their stunning championship, have become a thorn in the side of the big boys and the Calzones are waiting for the right vision to help them make the jump from mediocrity to contender. Perhaps you might be the one to join us in the PEBAverse and make it happen!
