Perfect Points

Can someone explain how I earn Perfect Points to buy packs? Can I earn points for statistical performance of players on my team? For just winning a game? And for Tournaments and Drafts, do I need to finish in the top three to earn points?

PP's are awarded for a range of achievements such as comebacks, hitting the cycle, reaching the playoffs and so on, but not just for a win. Points are awarded for players topping the league at the end of the season across a range of stats. While the amounts vary, they are all largely insignificant compared with what you can obtain via tourneys be it cards or packs.

The description of each tourney includes a list what placings win what. As a general rule, the larger the number playing, the more win at least something.

To follow on Herston’s comments about how to directly earn PPs; if you are a Free to Play (F2P) player who doesn’t purchase points then your primary source of points is through selling cards in the Auction House (AH). The most effective way to accumulate cards to sell is through tournaments with pack rewards. At this late date in the cycle the AH is pretty dry but I’ve been running down my bank by buying packs and have found that the returns are still solid.
When the new cycle starts then two other ways to gain points is to speculate on Live cards which are likely to bump up levels and therefore have their value appreciate and to also accumulate cards which later appear in missions. You can really cash in if you can guess right on a few key cards for missions. Again, these options are no longer in play for PT22 as the live updates are done and all missions have been announced.

I was not aware that there would be missions and other ways to earn points and packs. This game is starting to bear a striking resemblance to Madden Ultimate Team, which is a game I play quite a bit. Build your team with cards, earn coins/points to buy more packs and/or cards, complete missions for reward packs or other incentives, etc.

Am I making a fair comparison here?

I haven’t played Madden but there are similarities. The PT team has done a good job of giving us more ways to play. As you get familiar with the game, you may want to check out the Perfect Draft tournaments. Everyone gets to pick from a similar pool of players for each tournament so you are on even footing regardless of how long you have been playing.
If you like the game then I’d say to poke around the past threads here and check out the Discord chats to learn more ahead of the PT23 launch in the spring. Getting your team going early is a big advantage.
