Blackhawks '30 Historical Challenge - More Awards not being granted
I just finished a Classic game in which the Blackhawks' goalie, Charlie Gardiner, won a 1-0 game while turning back 44 shots. This should have qualified for the A Goalie Win - awarded if one "Wins a game 1 - 0 despite giving up 40 or more shots."
As with the ROY award in an earlier post, no award was granted in this case. Also, looking at the list of possible awards, it seems like the Upset! award should have been won in the third season (Win a playoff series against a team that finished ahead of you in the regular season.). In that season, the Blackhawks beat the NY Rangers in the Stanley Cup finals, despite finishing 22 or 23 points behind NY in the regular season. Is there something about a historical challenge that disallows these awards from being earned? |

You haven't turned commissioner mode on, have you? That would take it out of challenge mode, making it impossible to get achievements.

No, the only thing changed on the Manager Options screen was setting the assignment of Jersey Numbers to the AI. However, it appears that Historical Editing is set to Enabled. I never touched this, and certainly have not edited anything related to the league. Could this be an issue?
I did win the Muldoon Curse award, which was the most important award of all of these. That was in Season 4 (a couple of months early - or before the season actually ended. The order of these events : Upset award - Season 3 (Stanley Cup win over 1st place Rangers) - No award Muldoon Curse - Season 4 - Awarded ROY Award - June (after Season 4) - No award Goalie Win - Season 5 (January) - No award Last edited by BubbleFour4; 11-17-2021 at 07:59 AM. |

Historical editing being on is likely the cause, but it should be impossible to activate that option in a historical challenge and I can't replicate it when playing in that challenge. Can you upload the save? That might give us some idea of what's happened there.

Ok, I uploaded two files for your investigation. Basically, I save each season on June 30th for future reference.
For my Blackhawks'29 historical challenge, season 3 ended with the Blackhawks ending 22-21-1 (45 points) which was in 3rd place, 24 points behind the 34-9-1 (hated) Rangers that season. However, the BlackHawks quite honestly lucked their way to a 3-0 win over the same Rangers to win their first Stanley Cup championship. I did not notice, but this seemed like it should have won the Upset! award, as the Blackhawks definitely won the Stanley Cup series against the Rangers, which finished 24 points better in the regular season. However, at the end of season 3, the Historical Editing option is not set. I have uploaded this file as Blackhawks29Season3ToFtp.lg.zip for your review. I was not aware that the Upset award existed at the time, so it didn't register as a possible defect. Then, in season 4, I had a choice of either competing for the best players of the defunct Quakers and Senators, or letting the (hated) Rangers grab all of the best players from these teams. I decided enough was enough and went for the free agents. In January, the system awarded my team the Muldoon Curse award even though the season was not completed. That award was given, as appreciated. However, in June of that year, a trade for an unhappy goalie did not earn the Roy award as expected. In addition, my backup for the end of season 4, shows the Historical Editing flag being set. This file has been uploaded as Blackhawks29Season4ToFtp.lg.zip for your investigation. In this last file, somehow Historical Editing has been set to 'Yes'. I have no idea as to how this was set. I have not attempted any sort of historical editing of this league. Nor, would I want to as I wanted the challenge to play itself out in all righteousness. Yet, you will see that on June 30 at the end of Season 4, somehow the Historical Editing flag has been set. I did not set this flag, and have no idea how it could have been set. I also am still concerned about why the Muldoon Curse was awarded two months before season 4 was actually completed. If you need more information or answers to questions, please do not hesitate to ask. Thanks, Pete |

I also cannot deselect 'Historical Editing'. I never intended to select it to begin with. But, I also cannot deselect this option either.

Not being able to deselect historical editing is normal, it can't be turned off. But it's perplexing that it's on in the first place, that just shouldn't be possible in a historical challenge, even if commissioner mode is turned on to take the game out of challenge mode. Doesn't seem to do it again when I advance the Season 3 game, but it happened somehow, so we'll have to try a few things to see if we can get it to happen again.
