Buy Your Cards
I've realized the ones that do well are ones that buy their cards. I've got a great team but now they suck. And don't give me this crap about "That's how baseball is"...no..it's rigged so you buy PT cards so you advance further with 100 rating cards. Also, it doesn't matter how you set your line-up..the AI will do whatever the hell it wants with the line-up. I've had the AI lose me games because it swapped out someone when I don't have that in the settings.

I mean yeah, trying to pull the cards you want from packs is really unlikely. Buying is the way to go

I’m F2P and have worked the tournaments and missions all season. I have completed every mission except for the two most recent Player of the Month missions and my team has been in Diamond for the last twelve weeks except for the one week where I made it to the Perfect League for the first time. It has been said accurately many times that yo win at this game, you either need to invest money or time. If the game were rigged to disadvantage players who are not spending money, then that would mean that I need to by a lot of lottery tickets since ai must be the luckiest guy in the game.

Same. I dropped a little money at the release for a head-start and have been able to complete pretty much every mission so far as a "f2p" player (which, I'm not true f2p since I put money in at the beginning, but outside of that most everything comes through tournaments/packs/market.)
Granted my pack luck this year blows away my pack luck the last couple years.

Not really sure what you mean by 'rigged'? I don't have professor ape's skill at winning tourneys, using the market well or both, but I've still been able to complete most of them and am completely FTP. I have what I consider a 'great team' too, but they seem poised for relegation this year after several .500 seasons in Diamond, and it''s actually fun trying to figure out why so they can bounce back (hopefully) next week. As to 100 cards, I currently have over fifty (at least half of which I currently consider 'unplayable').
If you mean do players that spend real money have an advantage, of course they do. The whole purpose of the game for the developers/publishers is to generate profits. People will only pay if they get something for it. Lastly, in case you weren't aware of it, the ONLY way for an FTP player to progress in PT is to win card packs (and the occasional card) from tourneys. Hundreds and, not infrequently, thousands of the things over the game cycle. Unless you are opening at least ten (and ideally twice that) packs a day, you will get nowhere. We all buy most cards from the auction using the proceeds of those we sell. You could wait a lifetime for all the cards you need to complete the missions to drop.

I’m impressed that there are different paths to success as a F2P. Some people are experts at playing the AH while others focus on tournaments. We all do some of both but what is important is that you are not forced down one narrow road as a F2P.
I go back to my initial statement that there are to routes to success; money or time. I don’t begrudge the whales because without them, the game would not exist. People who want to pump a ton of money into building a winning team have every right to do so. As a F2P, I take a level of pride in being able to build a team which can compete with them at the higher levels.

You are correct, Professor. The fact that you can succeed at any level even as an FTP (remind me, but I think Perfect WS was won twice by FTP's last year) is amazing. I've won a couple of Gold's this year as an FTP. Not too shabby for a cheapskate.
I hate to break the news to the OP, but this is a business. It takes a hefty revenue stream to pay for product development...or to keep the price low...or to keep our development team accessible on the forums. We're seeing the benefits of PT's revenue stream in so many ways that aren't apparent until you sit back and look at the game improvements as a whole. I think the investment has paid off in spades for all of us.

What a great night! 25 of the TM3 missions done when they dropped and four more completed with a small number of PPs. I should have the final mission done tomorrow with about 50 duplicate Silver cards to sell at a substantial profit. That Gehrig card seems like it is going to be sick!

How does Gehrig compare to Prince Fielder? I'm in need of a first base to replace the underwhelming Giambi, but currently need to prioritise one or the other. From what you say Gehrig is probably better.. but then Fielder is one of my favourite players ever (as in, I even have the replica shirt).

Can't believe I'm saying this, but I actually kinda hope the last question mark set of missions is more difficult. I've been over-prepared for the last 2 mission releases (prime performers & TM3) and have a bunch of unlocked diamonds & perfects still. They have been a lot easier than they were last year, so far.
