General Q about engine/settings
When I do my replays, I go in to each player, under strategy, and make setting "override team strategy settings" so I can set them as needed per player...for example, if I see a player not stealing enough, I can tweak it by adjusting his individual slider...
I also look at overall stats (SBs, SHs, IBBs) for the team, and compare to historical numbers-- If a team is overall way off the expected, I go in and alter the TEAM strategy settings...( I do this also for % of teams' IP by starters/relievers, to better approximate reliever usage, as well as how often a team pinch hits...to make it more historically accurate) My assumed understanding has been, that TEAM settings should set a general baseline for things, while PLAYER settings would tweak those as needed, individually... However, now I am thinking of the verbiage- as I have every player as "override team settings", am I completely wasting my time altering team strategy settings? Will game ignore those settings, or will they still serve as a baseline? Not sure how game engine deals with this on the micro level Thanks Swede |

There was a post by one of the devs saying that individual player settings were additive, that they took the team setting as a base and changed it from there. That doesn't sound like over ride to me but that was the explanation given.

There's a pinned thread on these boards called "A Developer's Guide to Strategy" which goes into a little detail about how the settings work. But basically, anyone you use Override on then team settings don't matter for them.

hmm...interesting...then I guess only use override when someone's number seem significantly out of whack

OK, next question then...
say you keep players' strategy setting at "adjust to team strategy settings"....do the individual player sliders have any impact then at all? Will they then use the team setting setting as a baseline then tweak somewhat based on those individual settings? Thanks for replying |
