League Totals for Minor Leagues?
I've searched online for league totals (including BABIP) for the minor leagues, but I haven't found anything. Baseball Reference is a good source for the major league totals, but they don't have the minor league totals.
The stock OOTP 22 game comes loaded with league totals for the various minor leagues, but I don't know if these are from a specific season or a hybrid of some sort. I did notice that all leagues of the same classification have the same BABIP, and that's not the case in real life.

I beleive these are from older OOTP versions. I don't recall altering any MiL stuff, but did have to copy them over a few times in the past. they likely crunched them from real life... but, not 100% sure on that...
Just realized why these don't exist anymore... the MiL realignment makes them .. kinda meh... e.g. big reason florida state league has it's ltms are due to the ballparks being ginormous -- in addition to age related development. So, some leagues may be drastically different while others may be similar after the massive overhaul of MiL in real life Last edited by NoOne; 07-16-2021 at 12:28 PM. |

NoOne, thanks for providing that information.
I run autocalc for all of my minor leagues on opening day, and my main purpose in asking about this was to try and get more realistic stats for my minor leagues. I know there's a huge difference in AAA among the far west teams and east teams. The combination of heat, altitude and low humidity in those western teams results in significantly higher ERA's for pitchers and inflated stats for hitters.

Took me a couple of tries. Not intuitive.

This is the page I love to use for this purpose.
Makes it easy to combine the stats for all leagues per level in a given year and average them out. https://www.baseball-reference.com/r....cgi?year=2010 |

I appreciate all of the input on this, but I'll probably stick with the OOTP default minor league modifiers at least until the end of the 2021 minor league season.

Thought I would check back in, as I've been working on sets of 4-year modifiers (2016-2019) for MLB and all of the minor leagues. The BABIP has been a real eye opener for me. I always assumed (incorrectly) that BABIP would decrease as you moved up the ladder from the rookie leagues to MLB. That's not the case.
Here are the highest minor league BABIP's during that four year span: AZ Rookie League (.333), AAA Pacific (.326), California A+ (.324). Here are the lowest minor league BABIP's during that four year span: Dominican Rookie League (.303), AA Southern (.304), AA Eastern (.305), Gulf Coast Rookie League (.307), Florida A+ (.308). Notice that there is no correlation between the skill level and BABIP, but there appears to be a significant correlation between arid vs. humid climates on BABIP. I wonder if this could be because a sharply hit grounder on a hard baked, dry infield is more likely to be a base hit than on a softer infield in a more humid climate? This article seems to suggest that might be the case: https://tht.fangraphs.com/38560-2/

I'm hoping if NoOne or another OOTP stats guru sees this, they can provide some feedback. I noticed that OOTP does not use sacrifice flies in their OBP calculation for the slash lines. So the actual OBP should be .339, while the OOTP slash line shows .342. My modifiers for the Dominican Rookie League use the correct BABIP calculation (including sacrifice flies), for a BABIP of .303. My question is, should I use the correct BABIP, or should I omit sacrifice flies from the BABIP calculation (which results in a BABIP of .307)?
