MLB - NCAA D1 & D2 Template
There were a lot of issues with the quick start file I built. So instead of trying to salvage that, I dug in to building a template to build out a 'complete' North American baseball template.
Current template: Pro Leagues MLB (with teams reassigned to delete the central division and return the Astros & Brewers to their original league) MiLB Complete realignment to mirror 2021 changes (but I refuse to move the PawSox out of McCoy because Worcester baseball fans don't deserve AAA...specifically the woman who put her chewing gum in a napkin, then into my fiancee's chicken fingers...true story) Current divisional alignments are best guess based on current team line-ups. Deleted secondary teams from developmental leagues (GCL, AZL & DSL) Indy ball All pro leagues down to Empire & United Shore. Aside from realignments (teams to affiliated), no changes from default. Gastonia Honey whatevers added with correct field name (and I do have a logo) Pioneer League reassigned as an independent league College NCAA Division 1 & Division 2 1 league, all teams in their current conferences as league divisions. There may be some inaccuracies based on conference changes between 2019 & 2021. All teams have accurate city & field factors are not accurate. Tournaments & Winter Leagues Arizona Fall (no changes from default) Caribbean Series Current leagues & teams in one tournament. Each league is a division, just as in the NCAA leagues. Cities and stadiums are not accurate (yet). World Baseball Classic (no changes from default) Google Drive download: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1KC-...ew?usp=sharing Planned additions: Colleges NCAA Division 3 NAIA NJCAA D1-3 Top 5 Summer College Baseball Leagues MLB Draft League Cape Cod Baseball League New England Collegiate Baseball League Northwoods League Futures Collegiate Baseball League (each will be an independent winter league) High School Top 10 high school teams per state 1 HS league, 52 divisions (sates plus Washington DC & Prep Schools) Travel Ball American Legion World Series 7 regional all-star teams in round robin tournament Perfect Game U18 BCS National Championship (20 teams) WWBA National Champions (64 teams) Prep Baseball Report U18 National Championship (20 teams) Pony Baseball World Series 8 regional teams including Asia, Europe, Puerto Rico & Mexico International Baseball 2020 WBSC U-23 World Cup (biannual) wasn't played last year, presumably because of COVID 12 teams 2021 WBSC Premier 12 (biannual) Top 12 teams (no pro experience, limiting to AA and below) WBSC U-18 World Cup (biannual) 12 teams 2024 Olympics default settings If anyone is interested in helping with ballpark factors for these teams, I am definitely interested in help with that.

Wow. This is impressive.
How are you handling schedules for the NCAA level? I'm always looking for (or trying to create) a good, realistic college game, but I always end up frustrated with the scheduling side of it. That's me being picky, but I'm curious as to what you are doing for it. Thanks!

Same. For now I'm just letting default scheduling happen. 50 games (60 for NAIA). Once I get the whole template built out, I may jump into the schedule. Seems pretty daunting, though. But I'd like to throttle back the number of massive pitching prospects that I seem to get out of college whenever I play a MLB/NCAA game. But, I've never done custom scheduling (and I've been playing OOTP since near the beginning).

Tried to load the template, but it failed. Do you know why this is?

Sorry Monk, I don't. I'll try loading the file on my laptop and see if I can replicate then trouble shoot.

That's a possibility. I'm not sure what the backwards compatibility is for 21 templates.

I'm going to guess if you hand it a custom schedule file that it would keep that schedule year over year. Don't quote me though. I'm slowly working through high schools now. I'm up to New Mexico, and I can feel the resource drain...3300+ teams.

This sounds like fun but I can not open WTP files on a MAC. Is there any way I can get a ZIP of this?

Wow what an accomplishment!!
I was wondering, when creating a huge game like this, is there anyway to save it during the creation process? |

Skip the first screen where it prompts to create a real, fictional or historic world. Go right to the advanced settings screen. Click the "Advanced" tab in the left side menu. Click "Import Template", then select the file from the folder you've assigned it to. That should load you up.

Hi,
GREAT Mod, and thanks for creating. My Question: After importing the template and starting the new game with it, it appears that only some teams in the NCAA D1 actually had populated rosters. Why would many on the teams have empty rosters? Since some teams..like the entire A10 league - had all their rosters populated, could it be that an error occurred during creation? EDIT: may have answered my own question. Looks like none of the teams from U-Z alphabetically had their rosters populated. Had to be some kind of error I guess, though the setup process did not report an error... Last edited by MJONNY59; 03-28-2021 at 04:41 PM. |

I had a ton of issues with getting this template to work. I'm working on an updated version of this mod for the new version.

Id love to help on this in any way I can.
One thing of note when I was experimenting with it in OOTP21, when you first start the game and players are first generated for the high school and college leagues, you had them set up for HS to generate ages 15-18, JUCO 19-21, and NCAA 19-23. What would happen, though, is the game would call every single player a freshman because it was their first playing year, so the first two years the only draftable players would be Juco players, year 3 would be Juco and NCAA players, and year 4 would be NCAA, Juco, and HS players. Also, only in year 8 would be the first instance where every single college player would also have HS stats. Also, I felt like the draft pools were in general too talented (20-30 75+ pot players) but I might've done something wrong so take it with a grain of salt. |
