Not literally, as they are all too obviously stacked. But with the finalization of the RJ deal, I just want to state publicly how much the Yankees piss me off.

I was talking with a friend of mine before who was saying this team could be better then the 1998 Yankees. I told him no matter what their record is, this year's team will NEVER be better then the 98 team in my eyes. The 98 team was a collection of players who played very well together. This is just a collection of all-stars playing in the same uniform. It will be interesting to watch them, but I don't see myself enjoying this season as much as I enjoyed the late 90s teams.

The only good thing about this team is people are starting to give the late 90s teams the credit they deserved. There were a lot of people complaining about that team being bought. But, the current Yankees team (as well as the current Red Sox team to a lesser extent) are showing exactly what the definition of a bought team really is.

I don't think the Yankees will even make it to the ALCS again. I'm actually glad they got RJ. I'm more worried about Vazquez than I am Johnson.

Guys, lighten up, this is a great deal for all of MLB. They got what everyone's going to see, is the overrated RJ. Yes, he's got his past success, but his time is over, and in the 7 game stretch when it counts, I'd take alot of pitchers over him.

I can't believe that idiot Steve Phillips on ESPN took RJ over Schilling in a game 7. NO WONDER WHY THE METS FIRED YOU, YOU IDIOT!

The Yankees are obviously good, but I still don't think they're really any better than the Angels or Red Sox. If one of the other teams in the West also does well next year, they may have to fight hard for a playoff spot.

Honestly, if Game 7 is at Fenway I'm going with Schilling. If it's at Yankee Stadium I'm going with Johnson.

You really can't argue either pitcher. Both are clearly dominant pitchers.

I wouldn't want to be counting on Kevin Brown and a 40+ year old Randy Johnson to make 40% of my teams starts. What's the over/under on the combined number of starts the two make this year? I'll take about 45.

IMO and I'm a Red Sox homer but the Yanks aren't much better than they were last year ..

1) Johnson is 67 years old eventually that's got catch up to him

2) Johnson has no cartiledge left in his knee, eventually that has to catch up to him

3) Brown was supposed to be the great veteran they were bringing in last year

4) Johnson has always been a bit of a crybaby .... what happens if he gets off to a slow start and starts getting booed.

5) Pavano is no different than Vazquez.

6) Jaret Wright will go back to being Jaret Wright without Leo Mazzone.

7) No team with A-Rod will ever have team chemistry and team chemistry is a far undervalued commodity.

8) while I admit the Yanks pitching staff may now be a little better than the Sox, their lineup is still not real close.

pitching edge - slightly Yankees
offense - decidedly Sox
defense - if Sox keep Mientky Sox, if the don't even
chemistry - if the Sox keep Millar, first round KO Sox, if not second round TKO Sox

Bitch and Cry - a team with Sheffield, A-punch my face in, Brown and Johnson .... if you filled the rest of the team with Tino clones it still wouldn't help. i have a feeling there will be at least 24 cabs outside Yankee stadium

The Red Sox and Yankees were completely evenly matched last year.

Going into 2005 I'd be willing to argue that the Red Sox are a better team, and the Yankees aren't as good. I'd post reasons here but I assume they're obvious to anyone who would agree with me anyway.

Honestly, if the game 7 is at fenway, I'm going with Schilling. If it's at Yankee Stadium, I'm going with Schilling. If it's at Bush Stadium, I'm going with Schilling......get the point? Schilling is the best big game pitcher in the ML's. Randy Johnson has pitching in 1 big series his entire life, and had Schilling to fall back on.

We'll see how RJ holds up, come back to me, and I'll just say, "I told you so."

If you're basing that on age, then you have a point -- even though Perez still hasn't thrown a 200-inning season and had a 5.47 ERA in 2003 (all I'm saying is one good season, no matter how young, does not make an entire career).

But if you're talking one game, win-it-all, Game 7 scenario right now, then you can have Perez.
