Can't Continue Season

2 months into first season and can't continue without app crashing. It says that game is in progress but I can't enter or sim past it unfortunately. Screen freezes for a second on game load screen and then app crashes.

Did you initially leave a game in-progress? Then does it crash when you click "Enter game"? Is there also a crash if you just click "Finish today"?

I might have started a game but had to switch apps and didn't let it fully load - i'm actually not sure. Went to fire up the app this morning and it says a game is in progress. I've tried hitting the Continue button, Finish Today! and simulating a day or week, and they all crash. When I hit Continue, it goes to the Step 1 screen (pregame) but there's not info below, just the grey background. I can hear the crowd noise start and then the app crashes.

I am unable to reproduce, can you turn on debug mode (Settings > Debug Settings > OOTP debug trace ENABLED), and then redo the crash? Afterwards you can find the trace file if you open the Files app on your iphone

I had same issue when you start set-up for a game but exit before 1st pitch. It then crashes when you try to continue game. Trace attached.

Also, if you actually start a game but exit before it concludes, when you continue game, it takes you to the game set-up and the game starts new. Is there supposed to be a way to resume a game in progress?

Ok we found the issue and the fix will be in the next patch very soon.

You may also be able to recover your previous saved games that had this problem by simming past the broken date. I was able to recover some test games by playing around with "sim to date" or "finish today"

Not to be a dink, really trying not to be. Patch coming soon like in a day or two? I’m itching to keep going but don’t want to try another league if I can try to keep going with current ones. If it’s going to be a week or so I’ll start new one. I know finding whatever bugs we can now just help when release comes and ratings will be positive.

I am aiming for a patch in a few days, but I can't promise anything. I will say, this issue isn't caused by loading/entering the game, the problem originally occurred when you first left the game during setup. The fix will be to prevent it from happening again, but if you're unable to recover the game now, the patch probably won't help recover a saved game that already experienced the issue. Therefore I do recommend trying to sim past the broken date, that might help (it did for me).

Has the patch been released? This happened again to me and I just lost my SECOND season. Exact same problem. Can't continue game and can't sim past it. So disappointing. There really should be an option to save as so ppl can save backups. Such a waste. I can't trust the app to invest anymore of my time in it. Sorry, such a bummer.

Yes the patch was out yesterday. This problem won't happen anymore in your new games

What if I started a new league prior to the patch. But I didn’t play any games yet in that league. Will is not happen in that one as well or it needed to be a new league started after the patch was out.

So the problem was caused by leaving a game in-progress during pregame, which got the game stuck in a broken state. So as of the patch, it is only a problem in games that already experienced this problem. Games that have not had the problem yet will never have it, even if the game/league was created before the patch.

Phew and thank you. Did a long draft for start of league and lots of trades. Didn’t really want to go through that again. I’m still going to try and see if I can get past those issues with my other leagues. Just was waiting to try and enjoy one league without the crash so far. Thanks for the response.

Not on my new league yet. I tried the other things for the other issues in those past leagues, nothing worked on those. They are lost. So am I scared lol about any new league yes, but I’m still in one currently but I haven’t pushed it. Like try closing the app out while in a scheduled game. Then go back into the app and see if there is an issue. I assume you guys have tested that out?
