Where Do You Find Value Signing Up For Tournaments?

I'm curious how other OOTP Perfect Team players go about signing up for tournaments looking for value for their Perfect Team.

Do you sign up for a lot of quick tournaments hoping that grinding through 2-3-5-10 Standard Packs will eventually yield and unlock through missions some of the cards that will make your perfect team better? Do you sign up for daily tournaments looking for Diamond or Historical Packs even though you're less likely to win and the packs will come less often? Or do you look for a card reward tournament where you're not likely to win but the card will definitely make your team better? What about those weekly tournaments for 50K PP? Do you mix it up?

I try to mix it up but have really only had success in quick tournaments. A few weeks ago I won a single Historical Pack after I made the Semi-Finals in the Daily Iron Cap that yielded two Negro League players (Louis Santop and Heavy Johnson) who are on my roster but yesterday I won the Iron Cap for three Historical Packs and the most value I got was a second David Hale that I was able to sell for a few thousand PP.

Where's the best value in selecting what tournaments to sign up for?

If you can, grinding away on the quick tournaments is the way to go. Being able to enter tournaments on our phones with OOTP GO is a game changer in that regard.

Yeah, if I haven't checked in 5 minutes I hope for a red light.

For me the VALUE is just having fun. Why does anyone think a person will do something just for the value of it. I ask that because you didn't list FUN as an option. I'll participate in 1 or 2 a day...just for fun .I'm from the old school of having fun is still ok. It don't have to be anymore reason than that. I hope I'm using this game as best as I can...Am I?

Nothing wrong with having fun! For me, I have more fun if I get to play with better cards, which require PP, which grinding tourneys helps with. It's a means to an end.

To me the "fun" part is winning packs to either get lucky and rip a starter for my PT or sell them off and save up for players. I really wish they'd add a daily 4th slot so it doesn't tie up a half dozen or so quick tournament entries to play in one. I find I just enter the daily/weekly type tournaments if I'm going out of town or something - but now with the mobile app I probably won't even do that.

They did add some seriously nice cards last night as tournament rewards but those are tough tournaments to win for sure.

Can't tell you how to have fun.

I have fun building teams and opening packs (like I do in real life.) Thus the fun to me is getting packs, so constantly entering tourneys is the way to do that.

If you have fun by poring over the box scores of every game you play, of course your idea of fun in PT would be different than mine. You'd probably enter way less tournaments and go through the game results.

I have checked one single box score/game recap this year, because I scored 25 runs in an inning. Otherwise I don't look at them at all.

Ultimately, the success of my main team is the most rewarding aspect of the game but at this point I get maybe one card a week that improves my roster. Because there is little to manage with my team on a day-to-day basis, like ubernoob, opening packs is a fun part of the game for me. Luckily I enjoy taking the time to study my tournament team so that I can maximize the packs that I earn. A steady stream of packs let’s me play around with the collection missions which has also been fun this season.
