Let’s just call it as we see it - No fancy names, no fancy concepts - just Baseball !!

Major League Baseball is a new league - it is a historic league that will be starting in the 1969 season..... why the 1969 season- glad you asked, the reason for the 1969 season is not only is it the first year for Kansas City Royals, Montreal Expos and San Diego Padres- BUT it is the only season that the Seattle Pilots ever existed - It was the year of the Miracle Mets and Brooks and the Orioles- The original Astros were in the astrodome - DH did not exist and pitchers actually had complete games !

As a bonus - all teams will start the league with the rosters they had in 1969 ( so if you want Olivia and Carew look at the Twins) - so you can google who you would have as you select a team

Now that the niceties are out of the way - let’s get down to the particulars :

This will be a historic league - historic by players and teams but in no way do I promise this to be historic in outcome.... the Mets may not be so great and the Pilots may rule ( doubtful but one never knows) - the 1969 season was made up of 24 teams ( this is a huge endeavor to fill)

There is NO FREE AGENCY in this league, this did not come about until 1975 after Curt Flood challenged this in 1970 - so there will be no free agency here - we play with reserve clause rules... these means players are on your roster forever unless you release or trade away..

The season will consist of 162 hard fought games which will give the winners of the East and West in both American and National leagues the chance to meet in the division series and then on to the World Series... there are no wild cards or extra playoff teams - in 1969 it was just the 4 teams in post season -

Finances - well this is a tough subject - in a league that has reserve clause finances make little sense ( OOTP’s finances sometimes are hard to make sense of anyways) but for the sake of some realism finances will be on at game default for 1969 - I will not tweak them as it really is not needed.

Scouts and coaches - Baseball back in 1969 had both and so will this league. Here are the specifics to these : Scouts will be set to normal - no scout was ever 100% even the best missed a few, And coaches are available so hire them if you want them..

Ratings: Since this is NOT meant to be a replay league, we will not assume to know how players in OOTP engine will develop so and here is the tricky part.......... THIS LEAGUE WILL NOT SHOW POTENTIAL for ratings - only current - Now before we all start yelling what and how - think about it this way.... Do we ever really know what a player’s potential really is especially during a draft so we won’t be able to either - This tries to make it a little harder ( considering a lot of these players will be known it is difficult to not assume who will be good already) but again OOTP has a way of dealing with players that sometimes is different than expected

We will use overall ratings 20-80 for everything so it is all relative when looking at numbers.

Games will be simmed 3 days a week (MWF) one week per sim -
Rookie ( and maybe Rule V) drafts will occur every season
Teams will have associated minor league teams ( A, AA,AAA) no low A or anything else - Seattle will only have 2 single A and AAA - they had no AA

The league will have a Website and a Forum - each manager will have a blog section ( it would be great if we would all write but not prerequisite)
we will use Statsplus and probably slack - but I would really like to keep the league on the website and forum ( talk about archaic)
