Quickly import real players into fake league?

tl;dr - I've made a fictional league, and now want to import real players into it.

Long version: So I've set up the Mission League, which was started on California's Central Coast in 1995 after the players' strike dragged on and on and on... Because this was a fictional league, the player pool was stocked with fictional players - but I want to use *real* players. Now, I've successfully imported real players before, but it was a massive pain, in that I had to bring into the league the real teams, one by one, then dump all the players into the FA pool before deleting the real teams. Is there a quicker way to do this? Maybe I go in the other direction by setting up a historical league, bringing in the Mission League's fictional elements (e.g., ballparks, uniforms), dumping the players into the FA pool, and then deleting the real teams.

Anyone with advice on how to pull this off?

you can mass import players via text with the games import historical players. you'd need to point to the historical database when you do the import. it's a chore to gather all the players from the .csv files and then make a text file, but once you do, save it an it can be used over and over again if needed. just depends if you want to spend a few weeks taking data from the .csv files and making a notepad text file.

OK, I think I've found a working solution.

1. Set up an historical league with the season from which I want to draw my player pool.

2. Save that league as a template.

3. Start a new game off my Mission League quickstart.

4. Add the historical template to the Mission League.

5. Kill the historical league, thereby dumping its players into the draft pool.
