I always choose remaining peak seasons, but the AI doesn't seem to pay much attention to it anyway. I turned trading frequency down to the lowest setting that actually allows trades, to try to keep it from making so many mindless deals. Like the Atlanta Braves trading Dale Murphy for Butch Wynegar.

I recently was replaying a season from the mid-80s - and the Brewers shipped Robin Yount to Baltimore for nothing memorable in return. I *strongly* considered exercising my godlike powers as commissioner to send him right back to Milwaukee. |

Do you think the Expos knew that Randy Johnson would be a major star when they trade him for Mark Langston?

By "franchise star," I'm talking about a one-franchise player in his post-prime, at the latest - not someone who *might* be a stud down the road.

I wonder about this, too. Are you saying "it feels the most realistic" because of the results you get with it, or just because it sounds more realistic? For me, I choose the same because it sounds more realistic, but I don't really understand what affect this selection has (or even if it means anything, since I always do historical with recalc, usually 1-year).

I use 5-year, double weighted recalc in my HRD games, so that the guys who went off to war or lost multiple years to injuries will have as many numbers as possible to go off of. I used to use Neutered Stats, but I switched to Real Stats with the 5-year double weighted, and it gets me what I want to see, so I'm good with it. |

You will find yourself spending hours TESTING yourself and finding things out like, oooops POTENTIAL means nothing for players over 30. Try it....go into commish mode....set a player over 30 wiht 250 power..... to bad, to old |

I kept him because of real world knowledge. I like to see familiar names but do things to reduce the effect of real world knowledge. One is to have average spending less than league average. Another is to not retire players according to history. I think that's not enough though. I wish there was a "Help AI" switch. |

This, which happened last night, seems appropriate for this discussion.
