Best time to switch over to 22

Is there an ideal time to switch over your league? Is it right after the post season? Is it January 1st? Right before pre season? Or right before the regular season starts? I assume in season is a bad idea. Thoughts?

I just finished my 1976 Mets season (lost to the Reds in the post season) and wondering if I should progress through the next steps at this point or just pause at the end of World Series before I switch to 22.

I would make the switch right after the World Series since there will be an increase focus on coaches in this, so it would give you the most time to scout out those new coaches and hire the guys you want in those positions.

OOTP's Matt Arnold said the best time is at the end of the season.

I do it after league awards and the managers of the year are selected.

Here is Matt Arnold's post:

"There's always a few things that have to happen on import, so always the potential for issues.

As usual, we recommend updating at the end of the season as that is usually the time that causes the least "damage". At any other point, as the AI is updated all at once, you will run into cases where AI teams will completely shift lineups around as they re-evaluate, and if they're currently waiting on player offers, that can cause some weird problems. But it should work at virtually any point in the season."

I just started a 2020 replay and I'm still in pre-season mode (early March 2020). I'm going to take the risk of importing OOTP21 into OOTP22 and seeing what happens, but I'd rather wait for 22 to get released before playing any games.

The best time to switch over to 22 is right after file is downloaded, the wife and kids are sent away for a couple of weeks, you have taken 14 days of vacation and laptop right in front of you
