How to export html without erasing custom work?

I adjusted the html reports for my online league, and now I realize: when I export html from the game again, it will overwrite my custom work. What’s the best way to prevent this? Just copy the customized files into another folder, and re-paste them after I export the reports from the game? The style sheet is the most important one, and it will be easy to preserve it, but I guess I need to save all of my modified html files.

It will be a pain to have to re-copy these things every time (though it’s no huge deal.) Is this the only way?

I believe you can put it in the html folder and it will use those for every report you make.

questions.

But the game, as far as I know, re-creates the same files every time. For example, it output a styles.css file with its first html export. I modified this file with many changes. But now when I ‘export reports to ftp’ again, the game will output a new styles.css file, and overwrite my modified one with it. Is there any other way for me to preserve my changes besides figuring out which files I’ve modified, and saving those somewhere else, then re-inserting them after the export to ftp?

I think what octones is saying (although I haven't tried it myself) is that if you replace the existing files in the \HTML subdirectory of your program directory (ex. \Program Files\OOTP5\HTML) with your customized files, then OOTP will use these (modified) files as a 'template' for outputting any subsequent leaguewide reports.

Currently my \HTML directory has the following files:

index.html
menu.html
menu.jpg
styles.css
top.html

Try replacing these with your customized ones, then run reports to HTML again and see if OOTP uses your customized files. Like I said, I haven't tried this to see if it works, just a guess.

Put your file into the html folder and overwritte the one there. All the export will use the new .css file.

understanding

Okay, I get what you’re saying, Holz thanks for the clarification.

Octones, sorry I misunderstood. I suppose maybe the game checks to see if you have customized files in place, and if so, it doesn’t overwrite them?

I already have all my customized files in place, and my website is using them now. I will make copies of the files you named, Holz, because those are my primary customized ones, then when I re-upload my files again, I will see what happens.

Thanks guys!

Yeah sorry I wasn't real clear... I don't use the upload feature in game. I export it to disk and then use my ftp client to upload as it allows me to keep using OOTP5 while uploading.

Just copy the original html folder files into any directory you want and put your new ones in there. It should use those ones now by default, even in game when you hit top prospects or anything like that.
