Estimating future payroll
I have a pretty high payroll - basically maxed out on what the owner wants . Is there any way to reasonably estimate what the owner might allow next season. It would be helpful for purposes of determinng whether to offer an extension to aplayer before free agency. Its a player that might break the bank but i dont know.

On the finances screen, when you look at the accounting page, the budget for future years is an early estimate. So you can see out a couple years potentially. It's obviously not 100% guaranteed, but if you're making good money, and you see that future value is higher than your current budget, certainly a decent chance you might gain some room after the season.

I'm in 2059 right now. Payroll isn't too much higher, I'm playing the Dodgers and I consistently lead the league with a $340m-360m payroll (generous owner). My elite players ask for $40m+ when I try to extend them, but that's been the case since the 2020s with Bellinger, Buehler, Franco, an IFA named Koji Watanabe who put up 105 WAR starting in the early 20s, etc.
