New Random Debut League
IGNORE THIS PLEASE. I WAS TRYING TO FIND MY POST ABOUT MY CURRENT LEAGUE WHICH IS NOT THIS ONE AND ACCIDENTALLY STARTED TO POST NEW INFO ON THIS ONE INSTEAD.
It is random debut, starting in 1901 but using 1978 as the perpetual historical year. Players come from 1901-2000. Five-year recalc. Position player fatigue high, pitcher stamina low, injuries on but low. Requiring 5-man rotations with 5 relievers and 15 position players on a team. Pitchers stamina based on career, potential rating based on remaining years of career. Active rosters with a 44-year age limit. Three levels of minors - AAA (ages 19-35) , AA (18-29), A (17-26) and only 15 players allowed at each level (ghost players to fill out the roster) cause I don't like the league being cluttered with too many players and especially not ready for or past retirement players that are just kept on rosters forever. I held the inaugural draft with 16 teams, had fun giving each a new name and logo and historical or fictional ballpark. I simmed through two seasons. After 1901 I held a 44 round first year player draft, then did an 8 round one after 1902. Then I expanded to 24 teams, cleared rosters, retired all players whose OVR/POT was 20/20 to clear out players with little value or utility. Then I held a 56 round fantasy draft. I kept the league stats from the first two years, but based on what ActionJackson and David Watts have been tellling me by the third year you start to get regularity in the stats and some stability. So I drafted for my team the Brooklyn Bluebirds. It turned out that in the draft were a bunch of my favorite players, mainly Yankees. I have Thurman Munson at C, Chris Chambliss at 1B, Phil Rizzuto at SS, Bernie Williams in Center and in the minors waiting to come up in a year or so is Willie Randolph to play 2B, in the meantime a position shared by Luis Sojo and Mariano Duncan, both part-time players, and Lou Piniella. Hard to believe they were all in the double inaugural draft pools I used. But sentimental or not, I drafted them. I have a decent staff headed by Doc Gooden and Jack Chesbro and Vida Blue. Brooks Robinson at 3B, Roger Maris and Bobby Thomson in the OF. The preseason predictions have us at a close 4th place, above .500 with the league leader expected to win 88 games in a 162 game season - I am using the 1969 schedule for the league and will keep using it). So we should be in the running. League AVG the first two years was between .258 and .267, and league ERA was 3.83 to 4.14. Records for this young league: Avg. Shad Barry .356, career Paul Waner .361 (few ABs his first year) HRs Eddie Mathews 38 in a season, career 62 Ernie Banks (IS IT NOT COOL THAT ERNIE BANKS, AT LEAST TEMPORARILY, HOLDS THE CAREER RECORD FOR HOMERS?) OBP Ted Williams .476 Stolen bases Rickey Henderson 105 ERA Ken Johnson 2.04 Wins, Vida Blue 22 in 1901 Innings pitched season Ken Johnson 265 Strikeouts Jack Weimer 205, career Randy Johnson 407 Here are the standings so far in 1903: Last edited by italyprof; 02-21-2021 at 07:37 AM. |
