Possible to draft by team nationality only?

Not sure if this has been answered (positively or not) before, but..
OOTP21. Running a multi-national league (6 countries represented in the league, 24 teams total). As of now, no foreigners allowed; the game handles this very well, so each team only drafts players from their own country.
In the near future, I am planning to open the league/teams to foreigners, but would like to still have each team draft by their nationality. Is this possible? If not, is there a workaround solution?

Not possible. Best workaround would be to test what happens if you limit each to team to one foreign player (at time of draft) and see how that affects the AI drafting (it would likely have the side effect of teams releasing foreigners). Chances are it's a binary check on whether or not to draft foreign players, so it likely won't work.

Alternative idea (not sure if possible), you could try creating empty leagues with their own draft. Do one for each nation and move the teams over for draft day, do the draft, move teams back to their proper leagues.

If you allow foreigners, you'll still have the option to restrict them to team or league nationality.

This does not apply to the minors though.

if you could do this or do it somehow they game should factor in the fan and sponsor boycots that would inevitably occur. Just sayin. That would be pretty cool actually.

And this means the team can never call up anyone, since they are limited with number of foreigners.

OOTP developers - any chance this can get into OOTP 22?
That even when the draft is divided by percentage, as an option - to 'force' each team to draft by their team nationality?
Or...is this possible, maybe, without the draft? Let the players maybe join the team at a certain date (whenever that is, maybe a month before the season starts?)

This creates trading opportunities, but the AI might not see it.

What do you mean Limited? You have full control over the limits.

You keep mentioning draft - which draft are you talking about? The annual ammy draft?

Tbh the only non-headache inducing situation to get something close to what you want would be using international amateurs and scouting discoveries to supply the foreign players. Even if you only allow one foreigner per team, teams will just ignore the limit when they draft unless foreigners are not allowed altogether.

it is a feature that has basically not been truly finalized for a long time. minor leagues are often a mess and teams often plan poorly when limited with foreigners (signing and releasing really good players...using foreigners to be middle relievers for no good reason...and the draft problem).

the core game features are not important to the developers over the past 2-3 years though, nothing of note is ever added and the features that do get added are never "finished" really because the money is in selling card packs

Yes, but you'd have to do it before about a month before the draft itself to ensure no foreign players are created for the draft pool. You would simply go into "Default Player Origin" in the League Settings under Players and set the nationality to 100% of your whatever nation your league is based in with all other nations and "Percent of random nationality" set to 0.00.

One caveat: Unless your league is already devoid of any foreign players, avoid taking the tempting shortcut of simply selecting the "No Foreigners Allowed" option under league rules. Selecting that option will cause all of the teams in your league to abruptly release any foreign born players on their respective rosters.
