How to distribute Scouting Budget

Between Major, Minor, Amateurs, and International scouting, how would you distribute your budget? Are there any factors you look at when making this decision?

Bunch of factors.... first a big zero in anything that doesn't apply. Obvious, but needs to be said because the AI will not do it for you. If your league does not use International Players... change it to zero.

In Fictional Leagues I have pretty reliable stats for scouting players at the Major League level, less reliable stats at the Minors level... and none for Amateurs (assuming no feeder league). So I personally would go something like 30/20/50 in such a league. I tend to go a little heavier at the Majors level less for evaluating players and more for helping the AI make better decisions. Results may vary but my experience tells me a better scouting value (and better scouts) will result in more wins for your team.

For historical leagues, I think I am contrary to popular opinion. I tend to go 50/30/20 Majors/Minors/Amateur. Why so low for Amateur scouting in historical leagues? Because a historical player will generate with exactly the same rating for a given league and is not affected by chance from my experience testing. So I don't see the point in scouting a player that is a relatively known quantity. So, some points in MLB to help the scout, some dollars in the minors because the players may generate static... but they'll start changing day one. If it's a historical league with International players I'll put at least half my budget there.

Just how I do it and it works great for me... but it may be pretty unconventional

I tinker with it based on team needs as well. If I'm in full contention I go heavy at the ML level and minimum for minors. However if I'm in rebuilding mode I might drop ML to 10 and go really heavy the other way.

AI teams spend money on international so I do too for a level playing field.
