LansdowneSt's Facegen Checklist
I started making facegens again at the start of the pandemic, and over the past year and a half I've made a couple thousand. A few months ago I started chatting on the Complete Universe Facegen Pack thread and had fun making requested facegens while FancySkunk took a well-deserved break. I've tallied up those facegens and I've made over 400 MLB facegens or 1.81% of the MLB universe. The denominator for that percentage is based on an export from Baseball-Reference's Stathead tool for every MLB player from 1875 to 2020. I'll add the 2021 debut players once the 2021 season concludes.
I'm using this export as a tool to keep track of the ones I've made and am happy with (and moving duplicates of them to a separate backup folder so as to not accidently overwrite them). The facegen Excel sheet tracker looks like this (see image) but with 22,190 rows. If there are folks that want to have a blank facegen checklist to help manage their own packs, DM me and I'll email it to you. You just put the number "1" in the cell and it colors with conditional formatting and the sums for each column are at the top. Add or delete columns as deemed necessary. The Excel file is 1.3MB so it can't be posted here. I'm also going to start going through the ones I've made over the past year, touching them up where necessary, and posting them here. It's easy enough as I've already done them. Unlike the Complete Universal Facegen thread where the requests come in, these are just ones I did for myself. You may care, you may not. Nobody asked for them after all. On the other hand, rather than send thousands of files to FancySkunk for him to sort and consider for inclusion, this will be a place where he can compare his master pack's facegens to mine and either ignore them or incorporate them as he sees fit. I'm fine either way. I'm just trying to make that work easy for him. It may also help folks looking for a specific facegen for their own personalized packs as it should be easy to search through the thread. |

Danny Darwin
I'll start with Danny Darwin as an example. The left-hand one is in the Complete Universe facegen pack and is waiting on improvement. But if I can save FancySkunk some time and he can grab mine in this thread (assuming he wants to) - he saves himself time the next time he's doing a big update. It also saves a request coming in. That's the spirit behind this. Here's some I already did, take 'em if you like...
![]() As an aside, even if I can't find the exact photo I used, I'll try to post a picture of the player regardless for reference. |

Luis Tiant
The CU facepack set uses the 1968 version of Luis Tiant. And it is a great photo to use and, boy, was he dominant in 1968. However, I grew up a Red Sox fan and that is not the image Luis Tiant that I hold in my mind's eye. This one is. Facial hair, cheek probably stuffed with chaw and likely an unseen Cuban cigar his hand... that's my El Tiante. So presented here for those seeking that Luis Tiant.

Jim Sundberg
Here's longtime Texas catcher Jim Sundberg. The empty picture is to show FancySkunk, if he comes by, that it is missing from his set so he doesn't have to take my word for it or be left to double-check.

Ron Davis wore glasses and there are plenty of pictures that can be used with said glasses that aren't sunglasses

Jerry Remy
The RemDawg's face wasn't as round in his playing days as it is now. Here's the Jerry Remy I have in my files against the one in the CU Pack that was awaiting work.

Continuing in the 80s, here's Astros' pitcher Mike Scott who I had redone previously...

Dick Drago
This one's a personal preference as I think he was clean-shaven when he first came up with the Royals but my Dick Drago always had a mustache. In fact, Dick Drago still has a mustache. So I had done one awhile back to reflect that.

It's funny, I remember him looking completely different in Rocky IV...

Dan Petry
Here's the Dan Petry I had done previously.
luckymann, Rocky IV was Drago with steroids. The mustache and other hair loss must have been a side effect ;P |

Robin Yount
I actually really like the Robin Yount fu-man chu in the CU pack. Much like Luis Tiant, it depends if this was how you remember him. I recall during his early years, he had a less dramatic one - back when the local baseball card shop sold a "Batman & Robin" poster of him and Molitor that is burned into my memory. So mine has that lesser 'stache. But again, it's more a personal preference.

Bryn Smith
Bryn Smith of the Montreal Expos is next. Tough one as many of the pictures I tried to use had splotches of uneven coloring making the balance tough but I think it turned out okay. Enough to keep it anyway. Again, the current CU pack on is left, the one I did last year before I started posting in the CU thread is on the right.

Scott Sanderson
Here's another Expo and the NL Cy Young winner on my last early 80's replay, Scott Sanderson... Complete Universe (CU) one on the left awaiting being redone and the one I did last year on the right.

Raul Ibanez
Here's the Raul Ibanez I had done. Looks like a coaches picture snuck in to the CU set for Raul. Mine is from his playing days. This isn't the exact picture I used but it was likely from this set of Spring Training day photos.

Seems the current CU pack has neither Geno Petralli nor his mustache. Here's both...

Jim Morrison
I had redone the Phillies/White Sox's Jim Morrison after he kept showing up in the BA leaderboard on my early 80s game, if only to get him out of the shadows/coloring issue with the default one.

Tom Brookens
In my early 80s game, Detroit pitcher Tom Brookens kept popping up on Tiger leaderboards (much to Jack Morris' dismay), so I made a new facegen of him...

These are great. I noticed that a lot of the 80’s players had overly orange faces.
