CSV File: players_at_bat_batting_stats - What can be done with it?

I've recently started using Tableau to graph data obtained from the CSV files.

You can see some of the dashboards I have made for the RLB online league here: https://public.tableau.com/profile/mike.q3448#!/

I am interested in the "players_at_bat_batting_stats" CSV file as I see some interesting possibilities with the data therein.

I've been looking at this forum post:
https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/showthread.php?t=320271

And this manual page:
https://manuals.ootpdevelopments.com/index.php?man=ootp21&page=ballpark_locations

But I still have a few questions.

The manual page says that, "Ball locations are purely cosmetic. They control where the animated ball goes when a ball is hit when playing out a game. If you don't play out your games, there is no reason at all to bother with this page!"

Does this mean that the "hit_loc" field in the CSV file is meaningless from a statistical prospective? Let's say that I wanted to make a graph that plotted all of a players hits (a spray chart like this one https://i.redd.it/p7ksy8yizkc21.png), would this be achievable with either the "hit_loc" or "hit_xy" field?

Speaking of that, what is the difference between the "hit_loc" and "hit_xy" fields?

What is the "spot" field? It seems to have values between 1 and 9.

Finally, when I got to the "Ball Locations" tab in the Ballpark Editor in game, it references x and y coordinated - and of course the CSV file has a "hit_xy" field - but there is only ever one value and it is between 1 and 255 where as the ball locations go higher than 255.

I have more questions, but I will keep it at these to begin with.

Thank you in advance to anyone who can provide assistance.
